Chapter 12: Fighting the dragon again
🕑 Added 2025-04-12 11:10:55 +0000 UTCThe recovery period is much longer than Menachel expected.
He don’t know why all the elves Menachel met were vegetarians. He could recover by eating a few more phantasmal species, but he was asked to rest.
Of course, this only happened in the early stage of Menachel’s recovery. When he regained his mobility, he tried to hunt again. With the experience of almost losing his life in the last unclear challenge to the dragon, Menachel was very cautious this time and only picked the weaker monsters in his impression.
Thanks to his increasingly skilled “hunting swordsmanship”, these few hunts were very smooth, just as a rehabilitation exercise.
When he felt that there was nothing wrong with his body, Menachel suddenly realized that he had been here for a year without realizing it. Although this is a long time for Menachel, a short-lived species, it is only a short time for the elves.
Therefore, when Menachel found the “Guide Elf” and asked for guidance, the other party was surprised at how quickly Menachel recovered and advised him to rest for a while.
In the words of the other party, “revenge is not urgent overnight.” But Menachel had already rested for more than 300 days and nights. He always remembered that his purpose was to assist Artoria instead of killing a young dragon. Counting the time spent wandering in the Utopia before the [First Dragon Slaying Fight], Menachel had been out of the team for nearly four years.
Out of concern for Artoria, Menachel repeatedly emphasized that he could fight, and the “Guide Elf” finally played a role again and accurately located the position of the dragon.
However, Menachel already knew that these elves wanted to use him to drive away the dragon, so Menachel was not too surprised.
When he saw the dragon that he “thought about day and night” again, it still slept in the same posture as last time. The familiar scene made Menachel lick his dry lips. Only then did he realize that his heart was beating fast.
Psychological shadows are real.
Menachel walked forward carelessly without deliberately concealing his footsteps. This time, just ten meters in front of the dragon, the dragon head suddenly raised up.
The figure of Menachel was reflected in the vertical pupil.
The dragon obviously remembered Menachel. It opened its mouth and rushed forward with a charged dragon breath. At a very close distance, Menachel could clearly see the missing teeth in the dragon’s mouth. Menachel had already retreated to the side and rear when the opponent was charging. In order to ensure the coordination of his body, Menachel did not even draw his sword.
While running, Menachel counted silently. When the burning breath bit him again, he exerted force on his feet and leaped up with the heat wave of the dragon’s breath explosion.
To be honest, as long as he avoids the straight line of the dragon’s breath, the explosive damage of this attack can be ignored. As long as Menachel is not as careless as last time, the dragon’s breath that needs to be charged can hardly hit him.
But before Menachel fell from the air, a shadow once again enveloped Menachel.
Although the dragon’s breath was highly charged, it did not seem to release the debuff of stiffness after release. The dragon had already flapped its wings and approached Menachel.
This time the dragon did not use its mouth again. It stretched out its dragon claws and slapped Menachel’s body. Menachel, who had nowhere to borrow strength in the air, of course had no way to avoid it. As the dragon’s claws fell, Menachel could even observe the delicate dragon scales on the opponent’s claws.
A cold light flashed, and It was not until this time that Menachel drew out his knight’s sword.
But the thin knight’s rapier, even with the hilt, was not as thick as the dragon’s claws. With a puff of smoke and dust, the tiny figure in the air was pressed down by the dragon’s claws.
The yellow dust stirred up by the giant dragon’s landing obscured most of the vision, and the giant dragon snorted in displeasure.
Its claws were lifted up little by little, revealing the figure of Menachel who was pressed under its claws.
The bad posture having him being under it made the dragon have no other choice but to wrestle. It can be said that Menachel, who was hiding under the claws, became a blind spot for the dragon’s breath. But even in wrestling, Menachel was at a disadvantage – although the pain made the dragon unable to concentrate.
The dragon's claw attack was deliberately lured in order to insert the sword into the dragon’s claws – of course, if the dragon chose to use the dragon’s breath, the elves hiding in the dark would find a way to cover Menachel’s retreat.
From the beginning, the dragon fell into an ambush that had been set long ago.
Menachel, who had deduced the current situation countless times in his mind, was a little breathless, but he did not seem panicked at all. He held the hilt of the sword with both hands and slowly rotated the blade to increase the size of the wound.
The red dragon blood slid down the blade from the wound bit by bit, and dripped onto Menachel’s face. The burning and stinging feeling came from his cheek, but Menachel didn’t care. He stretched out his tongue to wipe off the dragon blood that he could lick.
The huge magic power belonging to the dragon in the dragon blood overbearingly hit Menachel’s mouth, and a feeling of nausea came.
The upward movement of the dragon claw suddenly stagnated. But fortunately, the dragon did not exert force again despite the pain.
The dragon’s magic power wantonly hit Menachel’s body, making his eyes red, but a wave of heat from the inside out dispersed the magic power of resistance.
But Menachel didn’t care, he curled his mouth and smiled. Unfortunately, he was now facing the soles of the dragon’s feet and couldn’t appreciate the surprise in the dragon’s eyes.
The dragon’s blood that had the upper hand quickly burned Menachel’s skin, and his face and arms were all red. But soon these small wounds healed due to the excessive magic power in the body.
In this way, the body kept repeating the process of damage and repair, and the steam on Menachel’s body surface became thicker and thicker, and the stalemate between the two sides was finally broken.
Sensing that the dragon was running out of strength, Menachel suddenly exerted his strength again while the dragon was not prepared, and lifted the dragon claw up a body height. The rapier in his hand slipped, and more dragon blood immediately spilled on the dragon claw.
As if to deliberately disgust the dragon, Menachel also took the time to break off a piece of dragon scale from the wound.
The sword made a crisp sound, and this makeshift weapon finally showed signs of breaking. Menachel raised his eyebrows, loosened the hilt, and held the dragon claw horizontally with both hands. While the dragon’s claw had not yet hit him, Menachel turned over to grab the claw.
But before Menachel could breathe a sigh of relief, he felt his body tremble, and he was suddenly thrown into the air by the dragon before he could stand still. When Menachel came to his senses, he saw a dragon tail that covered the sky and the sun. Menachel bit the dragon scale with his teeth and freed his hands, and held it horizontally forward, and climbed onto the dragon's body again at the cost of taking a hard blow from the tail.
He resisted the nausea and closed his eyes as he climbed up along the dragon’s tail. He took off the dragon scale in his mouth and stabbed it into the dragon's back.
Don’t try to throw him off easily this time!
