🕑 Added 2024-05-21 18:21:50 +0000 UTCHey! I am so fortunate to get to go to DC in a couple weeks and speak with the people in charge of mental health care within the VA, Health and Human Services, and the Mental Health Caucus.
I am hoping to make them aware of the issues with their programs, access, wait times, etc. And give them some ideas on ways they can improve. In order to get them to listen and care I was hoping to share some stories of any issues you have encountered. I won't share your name or anything you don't want me to, just hoping to put faces to the issues they have. xoxo

I think they should all have EMDR available. I’ve been in & out of counseling & hospitals for about 20 years. They would just get me stable & then it was like I was stuck. Not getting better then starting getting worse. It was a continuous cycle. They said I would probably be in therapy for the rest of my life. Then I was told about EMDR. Thought I would try it. But you are limited on what insurance accepts EMDR or pay out of your pocket. I have a lot of trauma but within 6 months I’ve felt better than ever. Still got some work left to do but it works.
