Hah, good analogy! Perhaps a slightly different dress code though :)

I always think academic conferences (particularly national ones) are a bit like weddings. A bunch of people who rarely see eachother, get together, there's lots of awkward small talk, then you hang out with people your own age. There's then a meal, drinks and (sometimes) dancing. The match is even better when you think about academia in terms of family trees, with PhD supervision as the link between people. I know some of my PhD siblings now, even though we didn't do PhDs at the same time. The elder siblings also tend to look out for the younger ones!

You're in luck! Have you listened to bonus 15 yet? I think it may be what you're looking for already! (Though let us know if you still have questions afterwards!)

This episode was soooo informative!! I have a question, could you possibly do a discussion on the pros and cons of getting a Ph.D? I have been contemplating this for so long and the job market for those with Ph.Ds is honestly what’s holding me back. Thanks!!
