Mind Drop #45 (04/09/22)

Waking up in the middle of the night for a crying baby and taking naps mid day has made it difficult to track days internally. My fault. π
(I have continued working on render work for the update after this one, though I have touched up a few for this upcoming update.)
Renders made this prior week:
Days 31-35 (touchups) - 28 renders and 3 animations
Days 36-42 (new)- 58 renders and 1 animation
Weeks 1-4 (redo) - 72 renders and 0 animations
Renders per day - 19.7 (Tracked for 8 days since it's Saturday. Renders are not my main priority right now so I'm very happy with coming close to the goal of 20/day)
What's left for the update?
Huge progress this week. I made a remark about how reworking the timeline felt like a puzzle and as soon as I find the right piece or solve a section everything else would fall into place and it has taken way longer to find that piece than I thought it would but it finally happened.
So now there's just piecing the smaller bits together which is a much smaller task and a few touch ups / adds to help with the flow of the update.

Other Stuff:
Going to be catching up on Birthday renders after the update is out.
Client polls starting back up starting this upcoming Tuesday. (Going to schedule it to post so I don't forget my days again lol)
Super short mind drop which is why I stopped doing them for a bit there. This final stretch has been a lot of just trial and error and it's hard to say a lot about it that isn't just "I'm working on it."
But a little bit of communication is better than nothing and it has been a very positive week.
But since it's so short, I'll rant a bit.

The timeline rework has been something I've thought about doing for a long time and knew it had to be done but was really second guessing if now was the right time... but after actually doing it I'm so fucking glad I went through with it. It's a very large and necessary milestone, not only for this update but for everything. The future and the past (with the redo) π
A younger Braindrop would have let the pressure get to him and he would've either put out something that would have to be redone later or he would have freaked out and started remaking all the scenes in the update.
Not saying that my process has been ideal by any means... it's a very similar shit show in a lot of ways in terms of delays and issues but there's been much less of a mental battle with myself.
I'm happy with that, I make this game for fun. It's my job and there's expectations and all of that but this is a passion project first and foremost.
I fucked up a lot by setting expectations and making promises I wasn't able to keep and I'm not proud of that. I'm working on that issue, trust me.
But it's been very nice to be able to put the time and effort into making this right and not stressing out and rushing and also having the large majority of my community support my decision to do so even after the fuck ups. Which means the world to me.
I'm no special person and there's many times that I don't feel I deserve the support. I know this is a way for you guys to support the project and you don't give me your hard earned money just for updates but it's difficult for me to wrap my head around that.
I've talked about how I grew up and the toxic relationship I have with money. Born into a family with nothing, grew up broke and homeless at times. Moved in and took care of my grandpa when I turned 18 and worked entry level jobs, living paycheck to paycheck and barely getting by. Every single month stressing over how I'm going to pay my bills.
I still view things from that perspective. I was never able to afford to support things and neither were 95% of the people I knew.
So it's definitely been strange accepting that there's people that are cool with giving me a few bucks each to do what I do for fun.
All of this has been to say, thank you guys for letting me go through with this even though I made a lot of my old mistakes.
Your support has not only changed my life but also the lives of my family.
And when it comes to me the biggest change has been mentally and without you guys constantly having my back, I can't say things would be like they are now. I think I'd be like how I was in 2020 and having panic attacks and not sleeping at all or even worse.
So yeah, you guys have been amazing and I'm ready for this update to be ready for you all. And with everything going the way it did, the one after this one isn't far away either.
I don't take a single dollar or comment or like I get from you guys for granted. It all means so much to me.

Saturday! It's going to be a busy day today and I have a lot to type out for the mind drop. And I was talked out of starting secondary stuff yet until the update is out. So client polls will start back after the update. Sorry about that.

Mind Drops are moving to Saturdays. Fridays have been consistently busy as fuck for me and Saturday has been chill so at least for now... Saturday is the new day for mind drops so I'll talk to you dudes and girls tomorrow
