I really like the tail, but it still looks too much like a chu tail, so probably gonna need to change that more...

I think the design looks pretty far away from a Pikachu already here. I’ve certainly seen other games with closer looks than you have here. The body proportions lead to a more two-legged look than a four-legged running style, so... yeah
