(Mm-mm, this is…)
Not surprisingly, the demon lord’s brow furrowed as soon as she inspected the ‘merchandise.’
For the shop was lined with disreputable comics, novels, and magazines, so plentiful and varied that they could satisfy every itch of every taste.
(Interspecies nudity, peach butts and tentacles, schoolgirls and old men, big-breasted, lactating futanaris… w-who the hell would read such stuff…)
The demon lord steps back slightly.
“Your Majesty, are you all right?”
“Yes, I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
But more than the eroticism and mania of these books, what astonished the demon lord was the presence of a beautiful, silver-haired girl behind the cash register, working on something.
“P-Priestess!? What are you doing here!?”
The demon lord lifts the edges of the hood she was wearing over her eyes a little and looks into her eyes. There is a slight tremor in her voice.
“You have got the wrong person.”
“What nonsense are you spouting? How could I have mistaken you for someone else?”
But the silver-haired girl who was called the priestess just glared at the demon lord, her sharp eyes growing more stern.
“Not pretending you don’t know me shows that you have no consideration for my feelings at all.”
“What the hell…”
The demon lord is a little hurt by the priestess’ barbed words.
“Ah, there’s a customer. Could you please move out of the way?”
Suddenly, she notices a blue oni in the checkout line, so the demon lord pushes her hood further back and gives up the queue.
“The usual. Is it ready?”
“Yes. It’s ready. Wait a moment.”
After accepting the blue oni’s order in a familiar tone, the priestess takes a thin book from the shelf behind the cash register.
“Is this what you want?”
“Oh! This is it. The new edition of ‘The Bitch Oni Who Cried.’ I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been indebted to this series. You really are a goddess.”
The blue oni then left at a fast pace, wearing a smile on his face.
“When did you stop being a priestess and start being a god yourself?”
The demon lord spoke to the priestess again, but she just turned her head away and did not answer.
“What a cold response. Now that we have met, how about we play outside? You know, hang around a bit?”
“Hang around? With you? Why? And why should I play with you?”
“Because… we’re, you know, friends?”
“Leave me out of your jokes and get out of here.”
“How cruel!”
It seems that the priestess’s spiky words could bring even a demon lord to tears.
However, she did not give up, which was both her good and bad point.
“Oooh. Are you drawing something? Show it to me, too.”
“Ah, no! Hand it over!”
The priestess tried to hide it in a panic as if caught off guard. But in a split second, the demon lord had the manuscript in her hand that had previously been in the cash register.
“Hmm, let me see. The title is… [The Priestess and the Crooked Merchant]. Ooh, sounds familiar.”
“No, don’t do that! Don’t read it out loud!”
(S-so cute~!)
The demon lord suddenly had this impression when she saw the priestess with her white cheeks flushed red, but she shook her head and banished the thought.
(That man on the cover looks like that merchant… or rather, isn’t he a little too glorified here? That aside, her panicky attitude is unusual. It seems like she really doesn’t want it to be seen. Should I ignore the contents of the book for now?)
The demon lord thought about this for a moment, but then her curiosity got the better of her. She wondered what it was for this indifferent priestess to prevent others from seeing this to this extent, and before she knew it, she was already leafing through the manuscript.
“What is this? I don’t think that merchant would say something like this.”
“Stop it, stop it, please!”
“And you even drew him on a white horse, even though you’re calling him a crooked merchant in the title?”
“No, don’t say iiit!”
(Again, so cute~!)
But the demon lord shakes her head again, as if to erase these inappropriate thoughts.
“Anyway, I’m glad that things are getting better for you two. And here I thought I would have to worry about him not paying attention to you again, considering that you have a personality that is strangely reserved at times like this, even though you create horrible things like these books left and right. If you two are as lovey-dovey and erotic as you’ve drawn in this book, then there’s nothing more I can say.“
That was then.
The priestess’s face fell in shame, and her shoulders slumped noticeably.
“What is it, my dear friend?”
“Nothing.”
The priest took the manuscript from the demon lord and let out a small sigh.
It seemed that the demon lord had hit the nail on the head, or at least that’s how she interpreted it.
“I see. That was a fantasy based on your few experiences of communion, wasn’t it?”
“Not yet.”
“Hm?”
“We haven’t… done it yet.”
Here, the priestess became even more depressed, and her eyes lost their usual sharpness.
“Mumumumu, that merchant bastard! I won’t forgive him!”
Realizing what she meant, the demon lord’s eyes widened in anger.
“Don’t worry, priestess. I will make sure that something is done about this idiot.”
“Stop it. If you interfere, it won’t end well.”
“Worry not, my friend. I won’t let anything bad happen. Because this demon lord will make ‘it’ happen for sure. Muhahahaha!”
And like a true ruler of demons, the demon lord laughed heartily and left the shop in a gallant manner.
