Beautiful episode! Megumi is the best little brother, maybe my new favorite character. His love and consideration for Hanajima made me cry.

This episode is so beautiful. On this rewatch, Kiyoko's line at the end struck me. "That's why even if someday you three go your separate ways, it doesn't mean anyone is fickle, and you don't need to feel lonely, some part of that relationship will always stay with you." It brought me back to a tumblr post that fundamentally changed the way I looked at relationships forever and I want to share it because I think many of you will appreciate it. (The user names for this absolute gem are: smokeinsilence & viridianmasquerade) "Have you ever noticed you pick up little habits and phrases from the people you love? It's no wonder our hearts are easily broken when people leave. We become a reflection of the people we care about and those traits stick with us even if the people don't." "I make ramen the way a friend taught me in eleventh grade. Every fall, I listen to a playlist made for me by a boy I drove across a border to hook up with. I eat sushi because a girl who won't talk to me anymore made me try it, and Indian food because my best friend's parents ordered for me before I knew what I liked. There are movies I love because someone I love loved them first. I am a mosaic of everyone I've ever loved, even for a heartbeat." Our hearts are full of pieces of others, they make up who we are. It feels clichΓ©' to say that someone you've lost is always with you, but in this way, through the ways they changed you, they are literally with you forever. β€

Having the "why" to why these characters act how they act and are who they are is one of the things that set FruBa apart from other anime...none of them are a trope there's not just the "emo girl" or the "gansta girl" or the "tough boy" or the "nice girl" yes believe it or not even Tohru acts the way she acts because of specific things that happened in her childhood. God, this anime is so good but guys please gear up for episode 24...it is a doosey!!! π³
