reiner and reiners buddy bertholdt are some of my favorite characters

What I got from Mikasa and Eren's inner dialogue is that Eren is thinking he doesn't need protecting anymore and that He can protect Mikasa now too.

Emanuel

Glad you like Reiner. He's a super great character. Quite the warrior.

Emanuel

Sasha scene with her jumping for food was just exaggerated animation to really show she wanted food

Natasha C.

Oh my gosh! I haven't watched the full reaction yet, but you guys responded to my comment 🥹 I'm glad it was helpful!

antionette7

Thank you for another thoughtful reaction. So enjoying watching this odyssey through first-timers eyes.💜 Revisit suggestion: If you would like some insight into Mikasa and Eren’s dynamic, rewatch the brief scene after mealtime where Jean Kerstein compliments Mikasa on her hair. Take into consideration Jean and Eren’s earlier posturing with each other where they shook hands and walked away from each other, then the compliment from Jean to Mikasa, then the immediate follow up conversation between Eren and Mikasa regarding her hair, then Mikasa’s subsequent appearance.

Rheyia Pomar

In case you missed it, the belt Eren was initially using had a defect that's why he had a hard time balancing on it. The instructor even said that it was his 1st time encountering a defect like that, insinuating that its "unusual". This however proves that Eren is even MORE talented because he WAS able to stay upright for a few seconds EVEN THOUGH his belt was defective, which amazed the other trainees. He was able to prove them wrong at the end and managed to impress the instructor as well. PS: ANIME 101, you should always remember that as this is still an Anime, some scenes may be depicted to be unrealistic to emphasize certain emotions or atmosphere like Sasha's reaction to food. You shouldn't take them too literally, sometimes they are also exaggerated for comedic effect.

Hippopi

Also the belt was actually faulty. I've seen many people, myself included have their first thought be "Did someone sabotage it?" because the instructor says that he's never seen this break on it's own before. We know that Mikasa tried to prevent Eren from joining the Scouts, and she continued to tell him to give up on being a soldier in this episode. Her main concern has always been Eren's safety, and joining the scouts is something she views as a near-guaranteed death sentence.

Hippopi

Also in regards to what Mikasa says about "He's relieved we won't have to be separated", keep in mind that's her own thoughts. We get to see what Eren actually thinks, and Armin's understanding is more in line with Eren's actual thoughts. Be careful to not take any character's words as the full truth, as they are all human with their own biases and potential misunderstandings. You can trust someone's thoughts far more than what they say aloud.

Hippopi

Clarification: The armoured titan didn't breathe fire, it let out a massive gust of steam. Because it was so concentrated, it looked more like a jet of fire, but it was steam.

Veronica

Umm, are y’all sure you haven’t seen AOT before? Your predictions are scary! Hahahaha but in all honesty the foreshadowing is so well done. POTATO GIRL 🥔 Sasha loves food! The scene with Sasha going wild at the smell of food is just to emphasize the fact that my girl enjoys good grub. Beautiful music? One thing that I’m thankful AOT introduced me to is the legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano. The soundtrack is beyond exceptional in my opinion.

Mike Rees

Japanese doesn't emphasise a specific syllable so every part of Mikasa is said for the same duration of time. So it's not mee kasa or mi kaa sa, it's plain old mikasa. Unless you ever see something written akin to Miikasa or Mikaasa. Essentially, one vowel = 1 beat. Similar to how you learnt the pronunciation for Yagami.

jermani

is it crazy to say i’m getting nostalgia from rewatching this? and being reintroduced to characters, it feels like a family reunion. 🫶🏾🥹💗💗

Cheryl Lambert

As a Patron of their BTS channel, you can count on a thoughtful breakdown and discussion of each episode going forward. They like to dive deep and encourage questions and an exchange of ideas with everyone. You won’t be disappointed.

KittyHell

Love,Love all your reactions. Reason I never say anything in comments is Almost all of your questions will be answered just like our's were, but to solve how to say Mikasa is me-k-sun *thats the best breakdown I can do to help*

Morgan Potter

Oh I so so enjoy your guy's commentary and predictions! Also yes second the other person who said the weird animation with Sasha (food girl who just really loves food), is one of those anime-specific quirks you just might not be used to yet. Anywho, your anime reactions have become the highlight of my week! Can't wait for more 😁

Yagami

Same here, installed patreon today because of them 🤣

Carmi

For the Japanese names, put the stress on the first syllable if you want to pronounce it more accurately, e.g. MI-ka-sa rather than mi-KA-sa, TA-na-ka rather than ta-NA-ka

nikki

I love Sasha!!! That's my girl yall!!! 🥹😝🤘 She doesn't have superpowers, she is just a passionate foodie lol. She loves food more than anything. And you will see a bit of goofy scenes like this from time to time... the show is intense and dark that's why some people might not get the humor side of it when presented in some moments but there are humor bits in the show as well, like the ones with Sasha here zooming to the speed of light to get the bread.. 😂 So yeah don't overthink those moments too much and just enjoy the subtle comedy from time to time. And LOL, Connie is indeed Tanaka's little bro!! They're literally like peas in a pod and they have somewhat similarity in personality as well! 😂

Bibi

@XXXn lol I just wanted them to think a little more about how Eren could have his dad's key based on the scenes/timeline they saw ep 1-3. I didn't wanna spoil 😂 I love seeing first timers piece things together on their own with guidance from the viewers. I am really enjoying how everyone on Patreon are clarifying their confusions without spoiling! 🙏

Lauren Crawford

Many people have said it but the red eyes and speed is to emphasis how much Sasha loves food

Lauren Crawford

The cadets are currently training within wall rose (middle wall) the titans have over taken wall Maria. The questions your asking have answers but that's something you have to watch for, can't answer them without giving too much away

Lauren Crawford

Y'all be hitting some nails on the head fr. To clarify they can't breathe fire titan bodies are hot asf and when they're expending extra energy it builds up. The steam coming out of his mouth was a way to show that off

Lauren Crawford

Going off of last week and this it looks like they're doing two a week which means I'm ready for it to be two weeks from now. So freaking bad

Lauren Crawford

POTATO GIRL 👧 🥔

Lauren Crawford

Literally when I Sat through them talking instead of skipping forward to see what faces they made in certain parts of the show and wasn't tempted to? Had to subscribe to the patreon so I could see the episodes uncensored even though I've seen them enough that I know what everyone's saying even though I don't speak Japanese

Chiara

Yes, Grisha is the name of Eren's father

Nick Childers

Grisha is Erens dad, this show will have you asking a lot of questions but don’t worry the show will answer them all, some answers won’t come until way later in the show but they all get answered… as soon as episode 5 hits it’s gonna be hard not to binge watch the show from their! Love your guys reaction so far this is gonna be epic

Charaety

Tanaka?! 😂😂😂 AOT does have some of the most beautiful and most expressive eyes! It adds to the intensity and emotion that the anime brings. It’s always interesting to read through the comments (and listen to the discussion!) Sometimes I really feel like this is my first time watching AOT. The answers to your questions will come as you continue to watch. You might have to wait a bit on some and it will make you want to binge to find out lol We can wait…your mind blown reactions are so worth the wait 😆👌🏽

Adam Espinosa

i HAVE NEVER USED PATREON BEFORE BUT I SAW YOUR FIRST AOT REACTION AND HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH INTELLIGENT ANALYSIS. PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DOING MY BOYS

deja

All your questions will be answered as you watch the show lol but it may be while

selma bougzir

And about the armored titan, it was just the animation that was made that way it wasn't fire or anything, it was just steam coming out of his mouth since it was closed from the whole run while he destroyed the gate in the second episode, just like sasha, it was just the animation nothing to do with super powers or anything, they just wanted us to see how she's reacting when it comes to food ! she's a food lover

Rhast

I agree with Lauren. I think, with regards to Erens and everyone else's maturity, it's easy to think they're older than they are. The art style makes them look older. They are literal child soldiers. So when they act their age, it seems very immature. Your Patreons are wonderful. Everyone is asking great questions and giving great explanations. I enjoy the first half just as much as the actual episode Trivia! "Jaeger" Erens last name is German, and it means "hunter" Eren is popular because he's seen an actual Titan. It's crazy to realize, but most people have never seen one because of the walls. Sasha is just a funny character. She doesn't have magic powers or anything, but you'll find out why she's weird eventually Grisha is Erens dad. It's his first name

Gabriel Mendez

Some of the questions you guys brought up, especially concerning some of the quirky things in season 1, can be attributed to anime goofiness. Some of the character traits can be played off as a joke since early in the shows creation, and perhaps the original comic as well, there was skepticism if people who were more used to typical slapstick silliness would enjoy the gritty nature of the show's content. The original comic, or manga (mahn-guh), was serialized in shounen jump a magazine for shounen, or young boys in japanese, typically 12-15 years old for context. Basically the rule of thumb is that if you see something that makes you question the world and it made you chuckle or laugh or doesn't seem like a physical clue but is instead a character trait, it can be largely ignored and simply enjoyed at face value. On the other, hand physical depictions like lightning, or flashbacks or other attributes that bring up questions revolving around the characters circumstances like name drops or references to events can be considered as snippets or pieces of the overall puzzle that makes up the plot. As for the question about how Eren got the key, I would say that given the totality of what we've seen, it's logical to assume the timeline goes: Titans invade, Karla dies, the trio escapes Dr Jaeger hears about the breach and rushes home to find Eren and Mikasa At some point between then, and waking up in wall rose, the cryptic events of the flashback happened resulting in Eren with the key and seemingly little to no memories of what happened and Dr Jaeger nowhere to be seen.

selma bougzir

I have one last thing to say, did you guys ever witnessed a plot twist in a plot in a plot in a plot ? Welcome to AOT ! :) It can be seen as a bunch of people fighting against titans and that's it, but you guys have no idea of what is waiting for you in the next episodes and seasons ! that's the best storytelling that i ever seen in my entire life, a perfection in every details, every episode will give you more and more questions, and every question will be answered sooner or later ! they dont put anything in the show without a purpose ! that's why it's the only anime made to be rewatched multiple time, you start understanding why some words and sentences are said back then ( a lot of foreshadowing ) and it's so satisfying !

Mariam

Loved today’s discussion and reaction! Can’t wait to see more episodes. I’m excited to see if you guys do end up dropping more episodes for this show quicker, but remember to also take your time and enjoy this masterpiece because it’s definitely worth it. Also just a few pointers that ARE NOT spoilers: - Yes, Grisha is Eren's dad. In the last few episodes they mostly called him Dr. Jeager but they did say Grisha once. - Mikasa is not Eren’s sister, you'll find out more eventually. - Sasha's eyes turning red was just part of the animation, she just loves food lol - The girl Mikasa was “talking to” was also Sasha, though she was initially talking to Eren but did not realise he left and then Sasha came and sat next to her to ask for the bread. - The first red titan that appeared and kicked the gate of Shiganshina was the Colossal titan, obviously named after its massive size as its the only one that’s able to peek over the 50meter wall when standing. - The second titan, the once that broke the gate of Wall Maria by running through it, is the Armoured titan because well… he’s armoured - Both those titans seemingly ‘disappeared’ after breaking the walls Can’t wait for the next one! :)

carmen 🫧

y’all need to chill with them predictions🤠🤠 u guys are always ON POINT 🥹🥹

carmen 🫧

carmen 🫧

i always skip thru intros cuz i get bored but i enjoy ur guys intro with the questions and ur predictions!

Nick Childers

Binge this show please!

Bibi

Answers to your questions (I tried 😂) 1. So Eren has the key and 2 years have passed…I want to ask you guys the same question: How do you think Eren can have his dad's basement key? Hint: think back to all the scenes of his dad shown thus far and the timeline! Gabriel did an amazing job at helping clarify the timeline in the comments 🙏 2. I am assuming based on the scenes provided in ep 1-2, Mikasa seems to be very strong so that could be the reason kids fear her. Remember how easily Mikasa dragged Eren in episode 1 when Eren hit the person for talking bad about his “heroes” , the survey corps. 3. It looks like lighting came from the sky
