CONTEXT: Behold! A young Astarion studying to become a Magistrate. We're talking early adulthood and several years yet from ever being captured by Cazador. I can't pick his hair shade because every choice feels blasphemous (though I'm leaning blond, personally), so I leave it up to you people.
I tend to think of him as a sun elf for the tragic irony, hence the gold eyes. I also like to think that there are instances where long-term neglect CAN alter a vampire's appearance, which would explain his later hair-color change, so don't stress too much over that.

I always thought his hair was probably black. I’m Latina, our hair tends to go very silver and white instead of an ashy grey like blondes often do. So I assumed he had dark hair but eyes, I love the idea of gold. That would be so striking.
