I think you make a really good point about Keyleth. Something Marisha (who played her) has said is that she thinks a lot of people saw a part of themselves that they don't like in Keyleth - they see the insecurity and fear and hesitation - and it creates this knee-jerk 'I hate this' response. Add to that the misogyny of the D&D community in 2015/16 (not that it's gone now, but a much wider variety of people are playing, largely thanks to shows like CR) and also just the difficulty of playing a Druid in 5E, and it was a perfect storm. I was there in the fandom at that time and it was ROUGH, the hatred was just seeping off of people. So glad people are responding better to Keyleth now.

The Ashari aren't all elves, they're druidic tribes and composed of all kinds of people. Since I'm a new fan, I wasn't in the trenches for the worst of the Keyleth hate, but the YouTube comments are still a cesspool. It's mostly people hating on Marisha for playing a flawed character and being unable to separate player from character (but not criticising other players for similar choices nearly as much). This is, predictably, the biggest divergence from the original campaign so far, since splitting the party this way in game would be a nightmare logistically. However, I was impressed with how they kept the important character moments in each storyline and split them up accordingly. As always, looking forward to next week!

Insightful bit about splitting the party for writing, but apparently the motivation for splitting the party [not how it was in the campaign] came from the animators asking if there was some way they didn't have to draw 7 people in every scene, every episode. =) But yeah, RP moments almost always happen in smaller groups. We love an episode with taking turns on night watch.

Good title. Marisha Ray is a big fan of the word Fuck, so I say, about damn time! Their inspiration for the animated series is Saturday morning cartoons they grew up with, so it is really a compliment to them for what they were aiming for.
