Studied finance in college, Ty this is great foundational information. Something I would add, put your savings (10-15k) into a high yield savings account. Your money will not grow much sitting in a regular savings account like BoA or Chase. I would look into accounts such as Marcus by Goldman Sachs. They give you a 4.5% return on your money rather than a .1% return from BoA
