W.I.P #106 - Sybil (Render)
🕑 Added 2025-03-12 19:44:47 +0000 UTChey guys, sorry for the holdup on this! yesterday ended up being a little less productive for animation than usual since as i was working on the project, my computer bluescreened out of nowhere and corrupted the autosave file (this is the second time this has happened now in the last month - no idea what causes it), costing me several hours of work.
needless to say, that was a kick in the dick, so i kinda spontaneously decided to start drawing again for the first time in ages (albeit with my mouse since i was way too lazy to plug in my tablet and reinstall the drivers for it). it was a very much needed diversion after the bluescreening situation, so now i'm feeling recharged :] (plus i was able to finally make a new character which was something i'd been wanting to do for a long time - you can check her out at the bottom of this post)
but anyways, here's a render of the sybil animation. i would've done an animated WIP, but there are yet again more unforeseen viewport complications (which, yet again, thankfully do not show up in the actual renders), so for now hopefully this is enough for you guys :'] i'm gonna get started on rendering her tonight - so if all goes well, i should have the full release ready to share with you guys tomorrow morning. till then, take care and thanks for the support as always!

dunno if it notifies you guys when i post a comment without replying to anyone - but just to provide a status update on the render: there was some stupid issue with her leg getting broken lighting due to the floor clipping into it (it was like half of her leg), so i'm just getting it re-rendered right now. it SHOULD be ready to post around 4-ish. apologies for the delay

the bluescreen sucks but its cool to see you drawing to take your mind off it. also thats a nice character, kinda gives monster hunter vibes for me

Yee is it blender 4.3? It sometimes crashes randomly for me if I go into the cycles viewport render, so probs a bug. Hopefully they fix it soon! The workaround I've been using is to do my work in 4.2 which is an LTS version and more stable, then switch to 4.3 for the faster cycles render speed (honestly blows my mind how much speedier it is!) Not sure why it'd bluescreen tho, maybe a gpu driver issue? And I know I mentioned this awhile back, but wouldn't hurt to have the Incremental Auto Save addon too. When I really get into the creative zone, sometimes I forgor to save in a long time lol, so having something besides the default autosave is nice! I think you achieved your intention in making Kovac intimidating! I defo wouldn't want to mess with her. I'm getting some ultrakill vibes, and she looks like she'd be out for blood!

only when using blender it seems :/ if i had to guess it's something to do with using the viewport in rendered mode with cycles. performance is perfectly fine and my pc isn't overheating or even showing any signs of overload - then out of nowhere it just instantly bluescreens with zero warning. my only guesses are that it could be a corrupted driver or just a general blender problem that's shown up with the most recent update. either way, so long as i save frequently, it probably won't be too much of an issue (unless it cracks its knuckles and bricks my PC forever) and YEAH, it's kinda funny how much more capable i am drawing certain things with a mouse than i am with a tablet - thank you! and spot on >:] figured it'd be cool to have that be a thing, make her somehow even more imposing

Noooo not the bluescreen! 😭 Does it happen randomly, or when using Blender? Wow you drew this lovely gal with your mouse? OWO. Very noice work! ^^ I'm guessing Kavoc's arm can be hot swapped with the jackhammer arm?

its okay i got mad brain latency - but yeah she's just a new character i ended up working on out of the blue yesterday. honestly, the first solid character design i've been able to come up with in the last couple of years so it was a big boost to my morale
