Perpsective Shift - Page 31
🕑 Added 2024-09-12 19:58:11 +0000 UTCWhen I originally wrote this story, I had Quentin going from class to the restroom straight to the commons, with no real thought given as to how he was getting from one place to the next. As the story developed, I realized he probably needs an excuse to actually go to a crowded area and not just try to duck out the back door. So this page provides that motivation. (Plus I've seen these signs lots of times before and I've always assumed that they're just trying to keep people from using the door. x) So it was fun to make a joke out of it.)
The next page might be slightly delayed because it's going to be one of the most complicated scenes I've ever had to draw. It's basically a large crowd scene, a sort of Where's Waldo-style establishing shot with a lot of figures and details. I also have to build a new set for it in Blender. So I'll do my best to get it done quickly, but it might be a little late.
Also a quick note about the previous page—I was waiting to see if anyone would comment on this but I don't think anyone did so I'll mention it now. The restroom sign changed from "Men" on page 25 to the more generic "Rest Room" on page 30, implying that with this latest shift he's now in a reality where there are co-ed restrooms. It doesn't really have any bearing on the story and I'm not going anywhere with it. I just thought it was a fun detail. x)

I have a feeling the commons is gonna be crowded

in my experience a LOT of the "mergency door" is just a extra exit if the main rotissery is full or malfuncitononing and anyone CAN open it if they want, the mall or whatever is just kinda sour on the use, I have HEARD of the doors that causes the alarm and I guess that is a real thing, though I have also heard of the systme where the alarm "unlocks" the emerengy doors or whatever.

That's pretty much the idea, yeah. x)

Thanks! I really like little things like that where your brain can fill in all the hot details ;>

I love the men/restroom change. I suppose it reflects a world where people aren't too hung up on gender, but it's also possibly a hinting toward a world where casual sexual encounters can happen more easily in co-ed bathrooms..? Or am I being too naughty-minded? >_>

That's honestly a great gag. His pause and look of annoyance is wonderful! xD I'll have to go back and look at the restroom sign, too. How is it that such a quick little detail can have such hot implications?

Thanks! I try to slip in little details like that as I think of them. x)

Thanks, yeah I was hoping that's how folks would see it :>

The best HMPH face in the game, haha As a huge fan of the environmental changes that occur as part of reality alteration, m'actually quite mad at myself that I didn't pick up on the "Men" to "Rest Room" change! I know ya said yer not plannin' on doin' more with that, but that is a very hot physical demonstration on how sexuality is becomin' increasingly normalized with each additional warp. I gotta pay closer attention for this stuff goin' forwards!

This page is such a lovely pause for the story. Besides the door, the hesitation is cute as hell. I love this page so much.
