public housing part 2 draft

folks this is the draft of public housing part 2. it's about an hour long. looking for y'all's feedback to make sure i covered everything accurately and cohesively.
known issues:
around 42:10 i don't think i did a very good transition between talking about social housing which labor unions created under the nose of the nazis, to community land trusts
i think i could have explained some of the theory behind HOPE VI better, will attempt to do so for the final upload
the audio isn't very consistent, and i forgot to do any noise reduction
let me know what you think, your feedback will help make this vidya better

The Nazis were elected in the Weimar republic and I believe the end of the Weimar republic isn't considered until the Nazis outlaw other political parties
realm lich
weimar republic was the predecessor to nazi germany i believe.

Interesting pic for Cleveland - you went with the "Ill-fated balloon launch" instead of the traditional "river engulfed in flames"?

Lathrop Homes is an example of this in Chicago. Sadly, the beautifully sited riverfront village of buildings sat empty for so long that when the not-great proposal (mix of public, affordable, and luxury – sorry, "market" – units) came along, it seemed like far from the worst outcome given Chicago's history. https://www.chicagomag.com/real-estate/August-2018/The-Former-Lathrop-Homes-Reopen-in-September--as-Mixed-Income-Housing/

I think you can milk some more humor out of listing cities with closed waiting lists by varying your diction and pace so the viewer thinks you are about done. Like "Chicago, Detroit, New York [beat] Seattle, San Francisco and Milwauke [beat] and Kansas City" etc. As an example of turning a long list into a joke through rhythm there's this video by hbomberguy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xRDiUD1a8c where at the two minute mark he starts listing gritty superheroes. Also if you add "and settlers of catan" at the end of your list you'll make some people shit themselves laughing.

Agree, there was some talking in the background music track and it made it a little hard to concentrate on what he was saying. I had to rewatch that part and specifically concentrate on what he was saying.

Perhaps if background music volume was lowered/removed in that segment it would help?

The video is very well done. My only minor thought is that I found the North Korean military parade footage a little distracting from the discussion of tax credits around 10-12:00 minutes. I'm not sure what's more appropriate though to have playing during such a complex subject, haha.

who did the new cover art? it's gorgeous

In the latter parts the music seems to drown out your talking to some extent.

Personally, I was hoping for Mike to be dating a guy named Michael.
Doug Conway
think it would be a funny bit if the north korea footage slowly drowned out you explaining the low income tax credit

ERISA is pronounced er-is-ah, not er-rise-ah. I'm glad we got out meteor.

-Between 3:31 and 4:03, you list all the cities where waiting list are closed. That seem a bit long for such a small point to make. I’d recommend cutting it short by listing three cities and follow it up with something like ‘’and a lot more’’ or ‘’and a bunch of other places’’ with the rest of the cities images quickly shown with their names written on each image to illustrate quickly that a lot of cities have closed their list. -7:16 to 7:21, we can see your sidebar under city skyline. -I don’t think the FTQ is the best example to take, because a commission called ‘’la Commission Charbonneau’’ (2012-2015) tied the FTQ with the mob and the biker’s gang the Hell’s Angel (most people in Québec know about this, because it was heavily covered in the news and it's likely even english speaking canadians have heard about it).

i'm too hot and too drunk to go back and find a time stamp but the aside note on 28th st and oxford when you say the street view is from 2009 but you were there in 2014--the first few letters on the left are overlaid on the google maps preview which makes it hard to read. not sure how quick of a fix that is (or if i got the streets right) but wanted to point that out also it looks like all the fire departments are located outside the city????? someone should talk to the mayor about that

Production feedback: - Audio levels drop a bit between 17:09 and 23:35 - There's a weird ~1 second black screen transition at the 43:51 mark

yay it's out! some nits - seconding editing out the "confirm demolition" flickering or otherwise making it less prominent - line spacing makes it hard to read individual bullet points on title cards. maybe increase the spacing between points - would appreciate title cards for hope vi requirements during the KPA sequence. it's a bit tough for me to follow otherwise - maybe cut out blurry loading in the satellite photo time lapse sequences?

cant believe you didn't name Mike's girlfriend Mike.

I like it, my points of critique are: -at around 50:45 you say "IRA" without referencing the IRA
zug
Very beginning, the scrolling across cities skylines is very jerky and kinda dizzy-making. @12:47 you say "public housing legislature" not "public housing legislation".
