Honestly, there was nothing for him to do, and I hate wasted scenes in a book. A scene that consisted only of him showing up and saying, "So, yeah, i'm going." and Sen saying, "Oh, okay. Cool. See ya, RWG" would have been pretty boring and provided zero forward thrust for the story. It would have been narrative dead wood and have existed solely for me to avoid this question down the road.

Oh, I get that, but I'm not after his current whereabouts, I just wanted to know why he seemingly vanished without being mentioned when they got to the capital

Eric Dontigney

I've addressed this before, but the answer is that I have some ideas for RWG. What I'm not sure is if I'll ever find the time to execute them. So, for the moment, it's more useful to me as a writer to have his whereabouts unaddressed. If I do carve out the time to work on those ideas, then not having him actively in the story will make perfect sense. If i don't carve out the time, his absence will be easily explainable. TL:DR version: I'm hedging my bets.

Angela Roberts

Nope. He does disappear. I expected that he'd move on bc Sen's kill them all approach was really bugging him but I did think he'd say goodbye.

IndyBart

Better to go out on your feet with eyes wide open.

Captain Nuclear

Slightly out of left field. A volume or two ago, 4 people went to the capital. Glimmer of Night, Sen, Shen Mingxia, and Righteous Wu Gang. However, once they reached the capital and Sen has destroyed the house of Xie, Wu Gang appears to have vanished completely. He's never mentioned again AFAIK. Did I miss a line or piece of dialogue ?

Kanyau

In the words of the well known philosopher, Slim Shady "You only get one shot, do not miss your chance... This opportunity comes once in a lifetime..." However short that lifetime may be 😔.

Magisch

I think most mortals in that world have an idealized or romanticised view of what cultivation is like. Sen was right to make some realities clear. That said, if I was in that situation, i'd probably also go for it.

Angela Roberts

Sen was honest. But in that world, how many can see the advantages cultivators have and refuse them? And, it's a bet either way. Die mortal or cultivator....
