There are a lot of things I can't or at least won't eat right now. I'm pretty sure that I got COVID a while back and instead of losing my sense of smell, I got the other thing called parosmia. It changes the way that things smell. A lot of foods that used to smell really good to me smell terrible right now, which has affected how food tastes to me as well. For example, ground beef smells rancid to me, even when I know for a fact that the meat is good. Pepperoni is another one of those things that smells terrible to me, at least when it's cooking or freshly out of the oven. I can still eat it if it's fresh out of the fridge. Even coffee smells kind of bad to me, which was a massive blow to my daily morale. I LOVE coffee. I love the way it smells. Having it turned into something I drink purely for caffeine is probably one of the more personal unkindnesses that life has handed me.
