Well, they got to be reminded they have a responsibility, in theory, so the chair must be uncomfortable. Just like the crown.

I don't like that Jing keeps putting Sen on the back foot for things that essentially arent his fault. He requested Sen to come, much like his sister did before. Cultivators are calamitous, when you as for a walking calamity to come vist....you dont get to be angry when it walks you way and brings destruction in its footsteps. It was his sisters fault he came the first time, and none of them had a real right to be angry about the way he literally deposed a childmolester and settled the issue of sucsession. I find it hard to believe it wasnt a net benefit for jing abd the kingdom. I feel like the contined premise of Sen stirring things up and then being at fault for ut a weak one. I also had a hard time if the king not kniwing about all the attempts made on Sens life, regardless an excellent opportunity for a large bloody pile of heads being deposited to make a point was missed. But finally, i dont understand why him causing a scene defending himself on the way to rhe capital is something he should feel any ounce of guilt over. The king caused a scene parading him through the street to make a point. Sen made a better point, the only difference being it wasnt a choice he made because its what he wanted, unlike all the times thus dumb royal family has dragged him hear fir thier benifits and the wine about how he isnt doing it right.

On going back, it turns out that Jing and Sen spent a few moments joking about the throne the last time they spoke, so it loses the threatening overtones in context.

begin/being mixup: "uncertain where to being with all of that"

But presumably that's to keep them in line. And that might be hard if Sen is going to up and wipe one without Jing's input.

That last line - if it wasn't for the word 'sheepish', I'd swear Sen was angrily flexing on the king -'I gave you your throne, I can take it back.' With 'sheepish', it reads a bit socially clumsy for current Sen - more like a mistake of subtext he'd have made back in book two or three. Mr. Bloody Teeth seems like a fascinating addition.

Does the new throne have good lumbar support? Never seen a proper throne that looked like it was good for the lower back. These are important questions Mr. Wordweaver Sir and we "The Public" (yes I have delusions of grandeur) demand answers to our important questions.

Love the change of subject at the end 😀. ‘You almost caused riots’ … ‘oh look over there’

If I was Sen I’d honestly be pissed at Jing for using him the way he did. He’s basically saying to the other noble houses ‘look here, I’ve got the powerful Judgments Gale at my beck and call, keep in line or else’.

I'm dying laughing. Thank the heavens I wasn't drinking anything!
