Tony Weathers

Well, somebody broke out the big boy lexicon for this chapter...

EsZeus

Instead of directly using heavens rebuke like he did nearly all the time now with his black lightning etc. He just throws... A fireball. At a water monster. That has an higher cultivation. And in an environment with nearly only water qi. Find the flaws. And it makes no sense because he should be a better fighter by now. A way better one. No excuses

EsZeus

I mean, right now, this is another massive plot hole for me. Since so many volumes now, he just doesn't fight correctly. He knows this is most likely a fight to the death, and doesn't use his strongend attacks. It is... Weird. And feels more like it can't happen ydt because Author-san doesn't want it. Even if it would make more sense in anyones mind. Or am I alone with thag thought? ^^

Wes Brown

I agree

Eleeyah

Hmm. So after all the insane pain he's gone through, it feels weird that getting injured, even if grievously, would threaten his focus so much. Might need to rewrite slightly to add some kind of poison or sth to it that'll mess with his brain. Or alter the ice qi so that it's specifically hunting his brain as an explanation. Basically, highlight his trained/learned ability to compartmentalize pain on a pretty ridiculous level (which he DOES DEFINITELY HAVE, considering the shit he went through as he wasted away TWICE over), then introduce a factor that attacks that specifically. That would make this fight feel more likely.

Robert Adams

He's still alive, isn't he?

Sword of Awesome

It was probably what kept him mostly in one piece

Thunderhoof

What was the benefit of his new body cultivation?

QuakDoktor

Hope Sen uses that core for something cool

Sanctum

The Captain might just rename his children after Sen, twice they’ve met, twice Sen’s saved his ship and crew. Calamity or Guardian Angel?

CentaureHeart

Must a pretty cool Core

Eric Dontigney

That's pretty much what I was going for. Most of the land-based spirit beasts I've described are things that wouldn't necessarily strike fear in the heart if you ran across them. I figured it was high time to demonstrate that, in world altered by the presence of qi, spirit beasts can be horrors too.

Ekko

Understatement of the century. Also that beast read like a sharktopus, but a crystal eldritch horror
