The Heaven's Door range of whiskey have been created by Bob Dylan (yes, actual Bob Dylan, the legendary songwriter) and Marc Bushala (founder of Angel's Envy Bourbon), made in a church in Tennessee. This limited release Heaven's Door Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey Single Barrel was hand selected and bottled for Total Wine & More. Each barrel varies in age and maturity and offers a tailored experienced. I was told, when I was gifted this bottle, that it did have a high proof at 120, but in the middle of the photoshoot, that tiny detail was forgotten and I probably enjoyed it more than I should have! I did add a bit of ice because at first it is a bit strong, but overall, I enjoyed it. I just got another bottle from this line, so I'm excited to try that one to compare.

Notes from Barrel & Brew:
Nose: Brown cinnamon sugar, maple, and buttery vanilla. Leather and tobacco, and a good mix of light fruits and dried fruits. At 120 proof, you do get your hit of ethanol in there, too.
Palate: Thatβs an intense sip right there. The first thing I got was the leather and tobacco backed by a lot more pepper and spice than I was expecting. The mouthfeel felt thin initially, but immediately changed to a thicker, creamier viscosity with notes of vanilla.
Thereβs still a good bit of the nice baking spices like brown sugar, maple sugar, and cinnamon. This is my first sip of the day, so itβs taking me a second to adjust to the proof. The more I sip it, the easier it gets and the more fruit I can pick out. Green apple and pear, and dried fruits.
Finish: A lot of vanilla, oak, and pepper on the finish. Long and strong, but by no means rough.
