The house of the witch of the hill and a cave underneath [47x60]
🕑 Added 2024-03-21 12:59:05 +0000 UTCToday I was inspired again by the Witcher and a quest about the Witch of Lynx Crag.
I added a few small versions of the hut, depending on how obvious you want to make it.
Everyone knows that an old lady lives on this hill. Sometimes people come to her with their sick people and she can help them. But she still seems scary and people say she is an evil witch.
A fitting quest idea: The Cursed Writer
Our heroes spot a strange encounter on the street. An overturned wagon with a destroyed wooden cage lies on the road. Next to it, a female warrior is currently tying up a man. He is very muscular and has a mouth guard on. His clothes are completely torn and he fights animalically against his bonds, which cut him deeply.
When our heroes intervene or speak to the woman, they learn that she is his fiancé. She says that he is a simple writer but has been trying to train since they got engaged so that he can fight on her side. The training was semi-successful but a few days ago he disappeared. Then suddenly he was standing in front of her door and had become incredibly muscular. But soon he foamed at the mouth and ended up in the zombie-like state he is in now. The fiancée believes that he visited the witch from the hill and that she cursed him. Now she wants to take him back there and reverse the situation and she asks our heroes for help.
If the heroes agree, they will come to the witch's house. The lady they visit there doesn't make a fuss about the fact that she cursed the man. He was annoying, begged her for stimulants and, after several rejections, threatened her that he could report her. Then she mixed something together for him and mixed the soul of a blood demon into the potion. Now he is strong, knows no pain and always wants to fight.
There are two ways to undo this.
1. The witch offers a deal. Down in her basement she can perform an exorcism, but she needs the help of the heroes who have to defeat the demon. What the heroes don't know. Actually, it's just a weak demon inside the man and it's relatively easy to exorcise. The witch uses the heroes and secretly summons a much more powerful demon, which she can then subdue once the heroes have defeated him. She then releases the cursed demon with a snap of her fingers and thanks the heroes with a useful potion.
2. If the heroes have enough arcana knowledge or have snooped around in the witch's books, they learn that the demon can be thrown back at the witch. If you defeat her and incapacitate her, you can say a spell and the demon will go into the witch, who then becomes a brutally muscular old woman who only wants to fight.
