Dear Patrons,
I'm pretty sure some of you are wondering when the next black & blue Update will be up. The good news: Very soon! Most likely this weekend!
And I'm also very sure, some of you are wondering what's causing this delay (again). So I decided to give you a little peek behind the scenes of my life as a Manga artist, as a lovely follower on twitter suggested. :3
Thing is: In the past I did a LOT of traveling, talking about Manga, teaching Manga, etc.. Then came the pandemic, traveling was not possible and I had all the time in the world to work on black & blue and honestly ... I DIGGED THAT! X,D Now that the pandemic seems to shift towards an endemic, the world is opening again and sadly (for me) I had to fulfill all the contracts I signed about two years ago. Like: ALL the stuff that was cancelled or postponed during the pandemic was suddenly on the table, if I liked it or not. đŠ
So I had to travel to Vienna about two weeks ago and now I'm in Swizerland, talking in schools about my job and Manga. And to be honest: I really, really, really, reaaally regret signing these contracts SO much, because my work on black & blue became compromised A LOT by all the traveling. I lost almost my whole buffer and all I can think about right now is: OMG, I have followers PAYING for a service and I have NO TIME to deliver, because all this traveling is just exhausting. Of course I am drawing whenever I can, but my progrss is slow.
But enough of the negative talk. Let's focus on the positive: Beginning tomorrow, the hardcore Workshop season is coming to an end and that makes me sooooo happyyyy! TuT More time for black & blue and the upcoming KISSING SCENE! YAAYYY! *U*
Also: I'm NOT going to do that hardcore-traveling stuff in the future anymore. X,,,,,D I realized, this is not sustainable anymore. I'd rather focus on my comic now.

Meine lieben Patrons,
ihr fragt euch sicher, wann das nÀchste black & blue Update endlich fertig ist. Und die gute Nachricht ist: Sehr bald, wahrscheinlich noch dieses Wochenende!
Und ich bin auch sicher, dass ihr euch fragt, warum zur Hölle das in letzter Zeit immer so lange dauert. Daher hab ich mich dazu entschieden, euch einen kleinen Einblick hinter die Kulissen meines Jobs als Mangazeichner zu geben, wie ein lieber Patron auf Twitter vorgeschlagen hat :D
Das Ding ist: Vor der Pandemie war ich sehr viel unterwegs, hab Lesungen und Manga-Workshops in Wien und auch in der Schweiz abgehalten. Dann kam die Pandemie und all das war plötzlich nicht mehr möglich. Ich musste nicht mehr reisen und konnte mich voll und ganz auf black & blue komzentrieren, und um ehrlich zu sein ....... das war geil! X,,,D
Jetzt wandelt sich die Pandemie langsam zur Endemie und die Welt öffnet sich und Workshops sind wieder möglich. Dadurch passierte folgendes: Ich musste plötzlich all die VertrĂ€ge und Vereinbarungen erfĂŒllen, die ich vor zwei, drei Jahren (!) unterschrieben hatte und die durch die Pandemie wieder und wieder verschoben wurden. AUCH wenn ich mittlerweile weder Zeit noch Lust hatte. Vertrag ist Vertrag - Pech gehabt. TuT
Und dann passierte das, was ihr gerade erlebt: Ich war auf einmal NUR noch unterwegs und meine Arbeit am Comic litt signifikant. Ich verbrauchte erst fast all meinen Puffer und dann saĂet am Ende auch ihr auf dem Trockenen und musstet lange auf Updates warten. Und das tut mir so, so leid und ich bereue es mittlerweile extrem, so viele VertrĂ€ge unterzeichnet zu haben. Ich hab stĂ€ndig im Hinterkopf, dass ihr ja fĂŒr einen service BEZAHLT und ich will das auch wie versprochen liefern. TuT" Und nicht sinnlos in der Schweiz rum tingeln. Ich bin einfach nur noch mĂŒde und erschöpft, honestly.
Aber genug von dem ganzen Negativen: Morgen ist der letzte Lesungs-Tag in der Schweiz und dann hab ich ENDLICH wieder mehr Zeit fĂŒr black & blue und die KUSSSZENE, die demnĂ€chst kommt! Yaayyyyy! Can't WAIT!!!
Und: Of course werde ich in Zukunft KEINE Lesungen mehr irgendwo in der Wallachei abhalten. X,,,D Das hat sich fĂŒr die Zukunft erledigt. Ich werd das nach und nach alles canceln.

Eng: This is an older picture from April of me drawing for kids in a bookstore. That's basically how it looks like when I'm teaching Manga. :D Often I'm drawing on the iPad using a beamer, but that's not possible in every location.
Ger: Das ist ein Ă€lteres Bild vom April, als ich einen Workshop fĂŒr Kinder in einer Buchhandlung abgehalten habe. So sieht das ab und zu aus, Meistens hab ich aber mein ipad und nen Beamer zur VerfĂŒgung XD (das geht besser als Flipchart)
Eng: This was the first thing I saw, when I arrived at my destination in St. Gallen on Sunday. XD It's MA HOOD, GUYS!
Ger: Das erste, was ich in St. Gallen gesehen hab, als ich da angekommen bin am Sonntag! XD Ich bin in MEINER HOOD, GUYS!
Eng: Monday started REALLY well! The school gifted me..... I can only guess, but I think it's about THREE KILOS of swiss-chocolate-cookies? XDDDD These guys were insane and I loved them!
Ger: Am Montag gings schon mal RICHTIG gut los. Die schule hat mir ... ich kann nur schĂ€tzen .... aber ich denke, es sind an die DREI KILO Schweizer Schokokekse geschenkt??? XDDD Die Leute da waren echt verrĂŒckt und ich fand sie SO NETT!
Eng: Tuesday on the other hand was a nightmare. đ It started on Friday a week ago, when one of these kids started sending me inappropriate messages through my homepage chat. Calling me a whore, for example. :,D Man, THAT was .... an experience. I talked to the school about this, they found the culprit and forced him to write an apology letter. There was a trembling 14 years old boy standing in front of me stumbling and basically running away as quick as possible, after handing me the letter. Here it is, for all the peple who can read German:
Ger: Dienstag war dann wieder richtig horrormĂ€Ăig. đ Es hat schon letzten Freitag angefangen, als eins der Schweizer Kids meinen Homepage Chat dafĂŒr missbraucht hat, um mir irgendwelche Beschimpfungen zu schicken. In einer Nachricht stand einfach nur "Nutte.". :,D
Damn, das war schon... ein DĂ€mpfer. Ich hab die betreffende Schule natĂŒrlich darĂŒber informiert und die haben den ĂbeltĂ€ter ausgeforscht und ihn dazu gezwungen, mir einen Entschuldigungsbrief zu schreiben. Den hab ich dann auch bekommen: Von einem zitternden, verĂ€ngstigten 14-jĂ€hrigen Jungen, der danach einfach nur die Flucht ergriffen hat. Hier ist der Brief:
Eng: Overall it was a disappointing experience. As some of you know I'm nonbinary. It's not really important to me in everyday life. It's just who I am and I don't talk about it a lot. But casualties like that remind me that I'm inhabiting the body of a woman. And feeling very neutral inseide I find it especially unfair, that people, inhabiting a certain body are called a "whore" just for fun. I wondered, if this boy woud've had the nuts to insult a 37 year old MALE author that way and I really doubt it. It was disappointin. The whole visit at this school was not that pleasant. The students weren't really interested in the topic in general. Y_Y
Ger: Alles in Allem war das eine enttĂ€uschende Erfahrung. Wie manche von euch vllt. wissen, identifiziere ich mich selbst als nonbinary. Und fĂŒr mich steht das selten im Vordergrund. Ich bins halt und muss nicht jeden Tag darĂŒber reden. Aber bei so einem Vorfall erinnert man sich daran, dass man zumindest in nem Frauenkörper steckt. Und besonders, wenn man sich innerlich sehr neutral fĂŒhlt, ist es irgendwie super unfair, SO betitelt zu werden... einfach nur zum SpaĂ? Und ich hab mich gefragt, ob der Junge einen mĂ€nnlichen 37-jĂ€hrigen Autor auch in der Art beschimpft hĂ€tte? Ich denke nicht!
Der Besuch an dieser Schule war allgemein etwas unanagenehm. Die SchĂŒler haben sich nicht wirklich fĂŒr das Thema interessiert. Y_Y
Eng: BUT on the next day I experienced something nice again! :D The next school was well prepared and full of nice teachers and pupils. I felt MORE than welcomed! Here are some impressions:
Ger: DafĂŒr hab ich am nĂ€chsten Tag wieder eine schöne Erfahrung gemacht! :D Die nĂ€chste Schule hatte sich super vorbereitet und war voller netter Lehrer und SchĂŒler. Ich fĂŒhlte mich MEHR als nur willkommen. Hier sind ein paar Impressionen:
Eng: A look out of the window of this school. Man, the landscape was FANTASTIC!!! Everything was green and blooming and it smelled like freshly cut grass and LAKE WATER! I wanted to go on a vacation here, honestly XDDD
Ger: Der Blick aus dem Schulfenster. Mann, die Landschaft war einfach nur FANTASTISCH! Alles war schön grĂŒn und blĂŒhend und es hat nach frisch gemĂ€htem Gras und SEEWASSER gerochen! Ich wollte da Urlaub machen, ehrlich gesagt XDDD
Eng: Also, the teachers prepared this desk for me:
Ger: Die Lehrer haben meinen Tisch so vorbereitet:
Eng: I got water, BREAD and chocolate! :D It was so lovely!
Ger: Ich hab Wasser und schokolade bekommen und sogar ein Brot! :D Es war wunderbar!
Eng: But the best was this board, the students prepared to welcome me. I was so, so, soooo moved by that and it healed my wounded soul from my bad experience on the other day instantly:
Ger: Aber das beste war dieses Board, das die SchĂŒler vorbereitet haben, um mich Willkommen zu heiĂen. Ich war so, so, sooooo gerĂŒhrt davon und es hat meine wunde Seele sofort geheilt:
Eng: And a last picture from that school: FLOWERS! I wished I had such wonderful flowers at my school! TuT
Ger: Auf dem letzten Bild dieser Schule sind BLUMEN! Ich wĂŒnschte, wir hĂ€tten auch so ne schöne Bepflanzung an unserer Schule gehabt! TuT
English: I have no pictures from today, but the experience was "meh" again. Some children were genuinely interested, others slept through the whole thing and others were shouting smug/rude comments. :/ At least that job is well paid! XDDD
Ger: Von heute gibt's kein Bild, aber die Erfahrung war halt auch wieder "meh", ehrlich gesagt. Manche Kinder waren ernsthaft interessiert, andere haben demonstrativ die komplette Lesung ĂŒber durchgeschlafen. Und dann gab's noch einige Kids, die unbedingt freche SprĂŒche rufen mussten. :/ Wenigstens is der Job einigermaĂen gut bezahlt XDDD
Eng: Tomorrow ill be my last day in Swizerland and as I said: I'm looking forward to that. XD
Besides all the traveling I'm also doing other stuff work-wise that accidently piled up in May. For example I'm drawing Manga-characters for Thalia (a German/Austrian) book store. Take a look at them:
Ger: Morgen wird mein letzter Tag in der Schweiz sein und wie gesagt: ICH FREU MICH DRAUF! XD
Neben den ganzen Teisen haben sich aber auch noch andere Arbeiten nebenher aufgestaut im Mai. Zum Beispiel zeichne ich Manga Charaktere fĂŒr Thalia. Guckt mal hier:
Eng: And I'm reformatting my short-story Finsterwald for an upcoming convention (Dokomi) so I can print it as a book. Take a look at the progress here:
Ger: AuĂerdem formattiere ich gerade meine Kurzgeschichte Finsterwald fĂŒr die Dokomi um, damit ich das dort als Buch rausbringen kann! Hier kriegt ihr einen kleinen Einblick , wie das so aussieht:
Eng: So as you can see, I'm DROWNING in work! T__T"
Sometimes things are piling up in an unexpected way, through delays, mistakes or even bad decisions. As I said: I feel bad for not feeding my Patreon Account with content as promised and I'll work on improving that. I don't want to be a Manga teacher. I want to be a Manga ARTIST. And I need to say NO way more often. And I will in the future.
I'm so unbelievable tired and overwhelmed .... and I learned my lesson now. đŠ
Ger: Wie ihr eht, ertrinke ich grad fast in Arbeit! T___T"
Manchmal kann man das echt schlecht planen. Sachen verschieben sich und beiĂen einem dann plötzlich wieder in den Hintern. Manches ist auch das Resultat schlechter Entscheidungen. Und wie ich schon gesagt hab: Es ist mir super unenagenehm, dass ich den content grad nicht so liefern kann, wie versprochen und ich werde vieles in Zukunft Ă€ndern, damit das nicht mehr passiert. Weil: eeeeeh, ich will eigentlich kein wandernder Manga-Lehrer sein, sondern Comiczeichner. XD Möglichst NUR das.
Ich bin sehr erschöpft und mĂŒde.... und ich glaub, ich hab meine Lektion endgĂŒltig gelernt! đŠ

Thanks for your Maus On The Move stories, I really enjoyed them. Sounds like some nice adventures (even bad experiences are part of an adventure, so don't let that get to you)! Also learned some things about you: it takes guts to show vulnerability. I hope you really enjoy your new life choices, and don't forget, you're only human, but a wonderful one at that.

Thank you for sharing the travel with us! I love to see other people's adventures so it's really refreshing to look at!! As someone who used to work with school kids and is also non-binary, I feel it. It's... hard. They can be quite rewarding on the good days and cheer you up, but on the bad, it can be not only just gross but homophobic/tranphobic and it's so so unsettling. I'm glad the other schools brought the mood back up because your work has always made me so happy and you deserve the good things in your travels!! Also, I somehow forgot you wrote that short story?? Somehow?? And seeing you doing work on it for print makes me doubly happy aaaa I hope everything goes smoothly and we'll always be here when you have the time!

Oh und tut mir so leid, dass es da so n paar Idioten gab, die dich beschimpft und belĂ€chelt haben. Die sollen erstmal da hin kommen wo du bist ey.... Rotzgören... UnverschĂ€mt... Ich send dir mal n virtuellen fetten DrĂŒcker. Das Board von den Kindern war echt toll :) ich hoffe bald lichtet sich die Arbeit wieder etwas und du bekommst wieder ne feste Struktur rein. Dann ist es meistens was einfacher und zuhause ist es sowieso immer am schönsten đ

Aber du bekommst doch bei den Workshops und Vorlesungen sicher auch Gehalt und das ist doch wichtig :0 auĂerdem steigt dadurch sicher auch dein Bekanntheitsgrad, was auch positiv ist :) auĂerdem braust du dich nicht rechtfertigen und schlecht fĂŒhlen. Greatly enjoyed reading this. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience in some schools. It's hard but try to cut the bad memories off and focus on the children who LOVED you being there.
