Wes Hicks was named in honor of Scream 1-4 director Wes Craven. Craven passed away from cancer in 2015. Sam and Tara's surname is Carpenter to hommage John Carpenter, the director and co-writer of the original Halloween. Sam's father being Billy Loomis means that in a roundabout way her name is Sam Loomis, just like Michael Myers' doctor and nemesis in Halloween. Personally, I don't put too much power in the "rules". The rules get broken or subverted all the time. They are basically meaningless. I mean, the whole point of the original Scream was to play with the rules of the traditionnal slasher. Sidney isn't a virginal character, she slept with the killer. The chararacters that drink or do drugs have just as much chance to survive than others. Mindy was high on pot during the climax and her uncle Randy was drunk in the first one. They both survived. Derek, Detective Kincaid and Trevor in 2-3-4 were all love interests presented as suspects and all were innocent. The only love interest of the protagonists to be killers were Billy and Ritchie. Two out of 5 doesn't make a rule. Dewey's death made sense to me in a tragic kind of way. He was always braver than he was competent. Just like in the Scream 2 when he fell down the stairs in the auditorium trying to protect Gale from the killer or him panicking while shooting Roman in Scream 3 and Sidney needing to shout at him to aim for the head. FYI, Judy Hicks puts Tara in a private wing under guard but all the cops except one left when Judy and Wes were murdered. Also, Mark (Sidney's husband) is Detective Mark Kincaid played by Patrick Dempsey in Scream 3. They did end up together and clearly made it work.

You 3 were complaining that there was nobody in the hospital. It was clearly stated earlier in the film by Sherrif Judy that Tara would be given a private floor.

Hi Storm. Just letting you know, The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) will be available for digital purchase on May 16 according to Optimum. I did say it was suppose to be on Amazon Prime Video on May 9 which is actually a premium video on demand release. My apologies!
