My #1 favorite Arnold movie ever. "You got a lot of nerve showing your face around here, Hauser." "Look who's talking." I would totally recommend another Arnold movie, LAST ACTION HERO, which is criminally underrated. 😉😀

The wonderful thing about Total Recall is that whether it's a dream or not, the film still works as a wildly entertaining ride. The Hauser twist is so good. The idea of the dream option is that, like what Dr Edgemar says, it's not supposed to happen like this. Quaid is having a schizoid embolism and the whole idea of his wife and coworker being his ennemies is some kind of projection on Quaid's part. They don't support him in his real life, so his subconscious manifests them has undercover foes. I personally leaned towards the dream ending, not only because I think they are hints more it towards it at the beginning of the film (Bob the salesman basically describing the entire plot of the film, the doctor saying blue skies on Mars etc). I also think it adds a layer about power fantasies, the sometime unhealthy need to escape your life into fiction and the danger of obsession. By the way, Tony the mutant is played by Dean Norris aka Hank from Breaking Bad.

This was so much fun 😄. Thank you!
