It's an interesting episode as it's almost entirely anime original. The manga only features their run-in with the Crimson Splittjaw which they fend off together. I believe this was due to a decline in readership encouraging the author to "rush" through the layers, and that he wanted the anime to include what he originally had in mind.

Oh boy, I am excited and slightly nervous about the next episode. Can't wait to see how Tee talks about it. I'm so glad that he picked up this series and has been enjoying it. It's one of my favorite anime.
