Bc you mentioned it briefly, interesting that part of the reason the exposure of the back of the neck /became/ thought of as sensual was as a result of it being standard for geishas rather than visa versa. It was initially a practical choice, as dye and I think glues and oils from the elaborate hair pieces would otherwise drip down and ruin the expensive silks and clothing. solution: just lower the clothing out of the way. ...I suppose there's a metaphor there for how a cold consumer (in every sense) logic gets wrapped up and re-coded in the palatable and desirable guise of sensuality and "flashiness" lol.
