Chapter 2 - Dev Log #4

So, welcome to the next Dev Log
The last Dev Log was quite a bit controversial due to the changes I made to Scarlet.
And I expected this.
I'm a person that tends to overthink. And that's pretty much what happened with Scarlet. At first, I was like "She looks too young."
Then I was like "Stop overthinking, Ocean."... But what if I was right?
So I made the decision to not do any more renders with her until I got some feedback that either support my thoughts about her looking too young or her being mature enough.
I personally am a huge mature/milf fan and so I just had to go back and change her again. (Gladly, I didn't do any more renders with her.)
The second new version I created just didn't do it for me. That wasn't Scarlet. It felt wrong.
So I did go back to what felt right and left some parts of Scarlet untouched. But changed others quite drastically.
To refresh your memory... Here's the old Scarlet from various chapters.

Chapter 3
Chapter 6
In Chapter 6 she had a visual upgrade.
So, for the new new one, I custom sculpted her body and changed her hair again. Did some small skin and material changes and that was it. This Scarlet just feels like Scarlet... But I still had to do some changes to make her fit more to her updated personality and story. (4k version attached.)
While the old Scarlet always embedded some sort of Rocker theme, the new one needed some "classy" drops.
With the next Dev Logs, I will show some actual in-game renders with the new model.
2. Zoey and Katie
Now we get to the next point of today's Log.
Two other well-known characters will be previewed.
I did preview Katie before and she didn't get changed much. Zoey on the other hand got a full-out rework.
In the old WiAB, I wanted to start Zoey's story much MUCH later. Which was a big mistake because a major story point would've started way too late.
In the new WiAB, Zoey's story will begin within the next two chapters and quite some lore will be dropped on you.
Let's get to some visuals. First the old ones.

One thing I always hated about Zoey was her weird body. She had huge tits, a super narrow hip, and a big ass.
Let's start with Katie.
I had already previewed her with these two renders:
Her body got custom sculpted and reworked her skin map.
Here is an actual Chapter 2 in-game render.
There's one issue I still have with her and it's the SSS (Subsurface Scattering.) I will work on that while I go through the update.
Now Zoey... Good old Zoey... She gave me quite the headache and I tried a lot of different variations.
The new Zoey changed quite a lot.
Besides the obvious hair and skin material changes, I also changed her body.
She's now thicker and a little chubbier. I will preview some actual body shots of her in the upcoming logs.
And her personality also got updated. She still has some things from the old Zoey but she's way less "Sexual for the sake of being sexual."
So yeah, I guess that was it.

It doesn't matter what the goth/punk scene does. It's a thing Katie always had and will always have.

I just think that face piercings are really overdone. Even in the punk/goth scene only about half of girls have them, but you'd think it was a strict requirement going by the girls in VNs. I can't remember the last time I saw an alt girl in a VN who didn't have them.

Excellent, it's good to know that constructive criticism is heard and valued. Very good Zoey! And Katie was simply always perfect and now she's perfect in 4k!

Awesome I think this rendition of Scarlet is significantly better for making the changes you wanted to make while still definitely being the Scarlet we already knew loved. I really like new Zoey too. Katie looks good but I'm not letting that grudge go anytime soon

I'm loathe to interfere with any artist's creative process but am taking the liberty of saying, here, that while I am a big fan of the milf trope in adult games I love female beauty generally for its own sake more. So In my opinion, such as it is, the revised versions of Helen, Scarlet, Katie and particularly Zoey ARE all big improvements aesthetically. believe that your first instincts in respect to them were correct. and that you should continue using them in new renders as planned - despite the work involved! - because they are honestly and truly lovely.

I also think the newest Scarlet has that original feel, and it's done very well, but it doesn't mean that the design of the previous version is not perfect, to be honest I think the design is great. I really like the model of the previous version, but she does It's not like Scarlet, but it's a shame to just give it up, maybe it can be used elsewhere?
Thanks MooMoo! And yes, I've learned that the hairstyle and brows are incredibly important and can change a character completely. Both in terms of looks and aura.

Hey Ocean it’s fantastic how you made changes according to community feedback, was surprised as I thought you’d stick to your guns with the changes but wow, this newer version of Scarlett is phenomenal! Always love how you sculpt these mature models like Helen and Scarlett - they wear this knowing, mellow expressions alongside classic accessories, yet the rest of their attire are so revealing and provocative: this mix of elegance and sexuality is a real killer combo: kudos @Ocean, New Scarlett: gorgeous hair style and colour, immaculate makeup, the lines around her forehead, eyes and mouth are just fantastic. The necklace naturally compliments her skin complexity and adds that layer of personality complexity. Superb work! Also love the alternative hair style for Katie: amazing how the perceived personality can change with a woman’s hairstyle choice. Thanks for this update Ocean!
