Orc (Unax) x fem!reader || sfw, soulmates
When the doctor finally saw you, he assured you it was only a little sprain, it should be good with a bit of rest and some icing overnight. You would have to be careful for a few more days not to make it worse. You were right after all, definitely didn’t need a trip to the hospital, but Unax looks so relieved you can’t even argue about it.
He helps you back to his truck, and sings along some pretty awful kid’s rock band with his nephew as he drives to the kid’s house. You awkwardly wave at the baby’s mom across the lawn and try to ignore the knowing smirk on her face. She pats her brother’s cheek and tells him something that makes him come back to the car all flushed.
You want to kiss him senseless, but that can’t be. It’s too soon. You haven’t even talked to him that much. This pull you feel inside of you must be something akin to lust. Yeah… Instant-lust or something like that they call it on the romance books you love to read.
“So, where to, teacher?” He jokes in your direction, making you giggle at the way he says it, with a baby voice that makes him sound so funny.
You tell him your direction and he changes the music to a random rock station. You hum along some of the songs, and try to ignore the big smile that haven’t left his mouth since you stepped out of the hospital.
When he gets to your building, he helps you out like a gentleman, opening your door and helping you up the front steps. You look up at him to thank him for the car ride, and for being so worried about your well-being in the first place. But before you can do that, he’s leaning down, his eyes fixated on your lips. Your throat is dry with the prospect of getting kissed by that amazing orc in front of you. Maybe it’s not too soon...
But then your phone rings.
He pulls away startled, and you take your phone out of your pants. “Hey, Nadia, what’s up?” You ask your boss who is breathing hard across the phone.
“One of the parents for tomorrow’s trip canceled on us. I don’t know what to do. Do you know anyone? I called all the parents who helped in the past but nobody is available and we might need to cancel…” Her voice gets tinier and tinier as she explains, and you feel bad for her.
Tomorrow’s outing with the kids is to an inter-species museum where they are supposed to know more about each other cultures, it was going to be a great opportunity to teach them diversity and y’all were looking forward to it. Shit.
“Let me think, I’m sure we can find some…” You start to run through a list of possible chaperones in your brain.
“I’ll do it,” Unax cuts you half-sentence. You realize then that he can probably hear the conversation over the phone, fucking monsters and his super hearing.
You look at him with a raised eyebrow. “You would?” You don’t want to get your hopes up, but you really need someone. All the kids were looking forward to the trip as much as you…
He smiles at you with so big you can’t stop thinking his cheeks would hurt. “Of course, I could spend more time with my nephew… and you.” Your heart does not skip a beat. It does not.
“Who is that?” Nadia asks against your ear, making you blush. You forgot she was even on the phone. “Is that the baby orc’s uncle? The hot piece of ass who took you away today?” You blush harder at her words, knowing full well Unax can hear them perfectly.
“Shut up,” you say between clenched teeth. “Yes,” you add in a whisper. Unax smirks at you and you blush harder. You didn’t know your face could feel so hot.
“Great. He’ll do. I’ll see you two tomorrow!” She yells cheerfully making Unax chuckle as you end the call and stare at him with your face still flaming.
“You did not hear that.”
“Oh, but I did… I definitely heard you admitting I’m a hot piece of ass,” his teasing tone sends the butterflies in your stomach into a frenzy.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” you tell him with a tiny smile, getting up on your tip toes and kissing his cheek before disappearing inside the building. The last thing you see is his reflection in the mirror at the end of the hall fist pumping the air. How fucking cute...
