Interspecies relationship

How about a human reader and her elf husband/boyfriend who protest segregation and fight both societies for their right to be together? Bonus if they have cute kids.
A/N: Not sure if this was what you asked for, but it’s what my brain supplied. Enjoy!
Elf x gn!reader || sfw but heavy topics, tooth-rooting fluff || tw (lowkey) racism/specisim, (lowkey) classism
When your eyes fixated on the elf across the bar, your whole body thrummed with anticipation. It was like your cells knew he was special in a way. It was the first time you saw an elf in the flesh, and you didn’t really know how to approach, everyone was staring at him and you knew your advances wouldn’t be welcomed in that awful environment.
But a couple drinks after that, your brain didn’t care that much, and even when your friends told you not to do it because he was probably a fucking classist monster and you were only a human, you couldn’t stay away. He snarled at you, scaring you a tiny bit and making you pull back, but the liquid courage made you bold, so you slipped your phone number in his hand and left.
You weren’t expecting him to text you the next day. He apologized for being mean, told you about his classists friends and how they wanted to “live the wilderness” and that’s why they were at a human bar. Laughing at humans and their stupidity was their favorite pass time and that made him sick to the stomach. Especially when he saw you across the bar and wanted to approach you so badly.
Your first date was at his house, both of you too weirded out to go out in public just in case. Attacks were rare, but there were still a few every once in a while, and neither of you were ready to face what society would have to say about the encounter.
The date went so well you went home with a tail of hickeys on your neck and a smile so smug you felt like floating on a cloud. In the morning you had to lie to your friends about it, and he texted you saying the same.
Nobody around you accepted the other’s species, and it became a problem very soon in your blooming romance. You fought and argued about telling people, he wasn’t against it, but he didn’t want to face everything that would entail, especially with his obnoxious family. And it was the same with you. You didn’t think your family would make a big fuss, but you knew it was rare to date monsters, especially the “high end” ones. And even though you loved him… you were wary.
But you worked through it.
First time you met each other’s friends it went badly. You met at a restaurant, humans and elves sitting on the same table was weird enough, but when the (metaphorical) knives started to fly, you felt so disappointed he had to hug you for hours after. And that made you feel better.
When you met each other’s parents, it went so bad you cried afterwards. Your boyfriend didn’t cry, but he became so angry his fangs were elongated for a very long time after. You had to cuddle with him for hours to make him calm down.
It was… very hard.
The internal and external judgment wasn’t the only struggle you faced, because when you throw everything to the wind and moved in together, the cultural differences made themselves very clear, very fast. He liked to have somebody to clean after him, and you liked to go buy stuff in thrift stores. It was hard to adapt to each other’s form of living… but you got it.
Things became better with time. More couples came forward, it became more normal to see monster x human relationships at the park, at the groceries… But some humans still gave you the stinky eye, and some monsters hissed your way when you passed. But you didn’t care that much anymore, because every time that happened, your elf husband caressed your face and kissed you tenderly, and that made everything better.
But when the kids came along, and everything became harder again.
Your worries multiplied per two and added some new ones. You knew mixed species marriages weren’t as uncommon as back when you started dating, but inter-species schools were still very sketchy. And even though you made sure to be close to a school that offered everything you wanted, sometimes things became a bit too rough for all of you.
Your kid was pretty much human-passing, but sometimes his anger made his eyes shine inhumanly, and other times he got so angry his fangs elongated. It was a very thin balance between looking human and acting like a normal kid.
You thought you did well with him, he was happy, and that was all that mattered to you. That he could be as normal as he wanted, and as happy as he could. At the end of the day, the world was a dark place, but you dealt with it the best you could… together.
