It may. While the interpretation of the sound made by sheep strongly depends on the country, I think I might have understood you mean the back open vowel found in "barn" (but without r-colouring found in American of course). If that is the case, I can provide the following two pronunciations: If the stress's on the first vowel: ['bɑzɪl] If the stress's on the second vowel: [bɑ'zɪl] With this IPA reading, the name can be pronounced correctly by anyone irrespective of their language background.
It's like Ba, like the sound sheep make, than Zill, like in Brazil. I dunno the symbols for it, but hope that helps!
