I realize again that “lain” was the standard for my painting.

Twenty-five years (or maybe more) have passed since serial experiments lain ended, and I painted quite a few pictures of Reine again for this solo exhibition, and I realized once again that this character was the standard for my pictures.
As I tried to draw lain as I did in 1998, I realized that over a long period of time, little by little, my drawings had changed. I don't think that change itself is a bad thing, but I feel that the accumulation of little habits was distorting my pictures.
I now think that maybe I had lost sight of my painting standards and did not realize this. When I paint lain, it is easy to discover my own habits anyway.
