The government is mad that Americans now have unfettered access to global communication and that they can no longer control the news narrative. Mainstream US News, both those viewed as more blue and those viewed as more red are under the influence and control of the US government and they spread the narrative that the US government approves for them to spread. That's not the case on tick tock, and that scares them beyond belief. They were also hoping that tick tock would sell to meta and Marky Mark would have even more Monopoly control of social media here in the US than he already does.
