When Evil Lurks (2023) watch along
🕑 Added 2024-10-30 16:01:04 +0000 UTCWhen Evil Lurks (2023) is a new horror gem that came out recently, and while it didn’t top the poll, I think it’s because possibly not many of you have seen it yet. But if you’re a horror enthusiast, then this one is a must-watch—though definitely not for the faint of heart.
🚨Spoiler-ish Movie Context Warning🚨
it’s packed with intense and gruesome scenes, and some involve children, so if that’s not your thing, you might want to pass. But if you’re up for it, it delivers an unforgettable experience.
This movie blew me away with how it steps outside the usual horror tropes. It’s smart, brilliantly executed, and terrifying on a whole new level. The story keeps you hooked without relying on typical scares or clichés. Hooked me from the intro sequence and the mystery. The look of the film and cinematography is excellent. The performances are raw and real, making the horror feel disturbingly close. It was one of my absolute favorites this year because it’s such a unique, well-crafted take on horror. I’m so glad it was on my radar—it’s one of those films that lingers with you long after it’s over. I may have missed things here or there, but regardless a movie experience I’ll never forget. Glad I got to share it with my bestie. One we were waiting for.
I hope you check this one out, if you dare!

Another first time watch. I think there needs to be a new horror sub-genre; Bleak Chic. Downer endings seem to be in vogue. A very juicy selection. I might have been more disturbed by the school house finale but I used to work in a middle school, and those creatures are pretty scary in real life.

This was an amazing watchalong. The screams were music to my ears. And the absolute GLEE on your face at the worst scenes made me very happy lol
