Monday - Sleepaway Camp (1983) I found this movie on a list of the best '80s slashers that didn't get a sequel! I was going to do a poll from that list, but this one caught my eye, so I chose it! I'm glad I did! It’s such a unique film, and honestly, I had a lot of laughs. A fun way to kick off the last week of Spooktober!
Also, I will be jumping on a LIVE today hopefully around 2 pm PST. I didn't have time to plan anything so might just be a fun hangout!
Tuesday - Smile (2022) Mel joins me as we dive into this one! I really liked it; it was kind of reminiscent of It Follows. I think we had a lot of great jump scares! This one is a wicked reaction!
Wednesday - When Evil Lurks (2024) This movie didn't get many votes on the Foreign Poll, which I think is a travesty. It's probably one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. It's quite disturbing, with some intense gore. If you can handle that, I highly recommend it! Surprise, Mel is back!
Thursday - The Witch (2015) This came in second on the 2000s poll so I chose it. The movie really surprised me! Anya Taylor-Joy was incredible. I think this is a film lover's movie, a witch lover's movie, and I'm blown away by the artistry here. Worth a watch!
Thank you, everyone, for jumping on board for Spooktober! I feel rejuvenated! Kind of weird to say, but I loved so many of the movies we watched this month!
We'll get a genre poll going to see what you want to watch next, so keep an eye out this week! And for those of you who’ve been patiently waiting for horror movie month to end, some AFI action will be back in the lineup soon! Along with WOW spins! I still have one more sort-of-horror movie I plan to watch in the next week or so that I couldn’t fit in. I think you'll all love it! I ordered it, so I’m just waiting for it to arrive in the mail! LOL!
Love your GUTS!

I can't wait to watch along with The Witch! I watched it last year and it'll be even more fun with a watch along. 🫣

Sleepaway Camp got multiple sequels !! In some places the second movie was called Nightmare Vacation 2, and is also very camp

Noell. This movie. It’s art but I couldn’t even take my dog to my backyard to pee after. And I am normally not scared like that 😅😅😅🧙🏼♀️🧙🏼♀️🧙🏼♀️🧙🏼♀️🧙🏼♀️🧙🏼♀️

When Evil Lurks is brutal and terrifying. Shaun of the Dead it ain’t. It’s my favorite horror movie of the last few years. The writer/director Damian Rugna is one of a handful of filmmakers in the vanguard of new horror. Unapologetically pushing the boundaries. And no, not boundaries like the Terrifier movies, those are just slashers. Highly recommend Rugna’s film prior to this one, Terrified. It’s less bloody and more creepy. Just…..some scenes made me shiver and I am a jaded horror film watcher who rarely gets scared. Thank you Ames, from the bottom of my cold cold heart, for your amazing month of horror!!

Hooray for Sleepaway Camp! I decided to check it out from a reactor last year and it truly is one of the best Slashers ever made with a wacky ending
