Halfway Broken 95-97

Time for the second monthly installment of Halfway Broken, which pushes us through the end (almost at least) of the Drakestone original island. Between the 5,600+ words of the release on the first, and this 9,400+ set, it also neatly hit the 15k word goal, which I'm pleased about. It always annoys me just a tiny bit when I fall short, even if I do so because its simply the right place to stop without cliffhangers or such. Bit of an OCD thing, really, I guess.
Anyway, I'm reasonably happy with how both these chapters, and the overall visit to Drakestone went. It, I think, fits a different part of the One Piece formula that I haven't focused on much, while also keeping the overall tone of the fic in mind. Still, let me know what you think too :-)!
Art for this post! The first piece is by Sylvester0102 and the second by BlackheartDominion. Both are AI creations, but not by the annoying trying-to-sell-it-like-it's-actual-art sorts of people, so I don't mind pointing you their way...
As usual, the new chapters are attached here in various formats, and the new Master Files, containing the entire story, will be up in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be doing some Author's Notes for the chapters after I get that done. You'll be able to find them in the comments, also as usual, though give it a bit so I can actually write them :-p. Its a bit of a case where Neethrax wasn't going to engage in kinslaying...and doesn't, herself, consider humans of the same level of importance as a drake/dragon. She's not antagonistic towards them, and can find individual humans interesting, but still doesn't consider them equals. So she was really punishing him for fucking up her Library, not for the murders his cultists did. If the Marines want more justice than that, they'll have to hunt Thraax down themselves while he's weak.

Too strong and wouldn't be interested in leaving her nest of books :-p. Those two haven't gotten enough screen time, so I'm glad you liked seeing them ;-). Nojiko in particular, I felt like I haven't done enough with. As for Kaya...I may or may not have developed trauma involving doctors and what they consider 'for your own good'... Part of Sanji's upgrades will be his occasional participation in Little East Blue's 'Food Wars,' which will help him build a replacement for Attack Cuisine from his timeskip training. His other major canon upgrade didn't come until post timeskip...but might come earlier if Kaya ends up noticing something screwy with his genetics while working to improve the crew. I'm glad you liked Drakestone :-). As for how far they are into the timeskip? They spent six weeks on Sixius, I'm not counting some of their minor travels before that as the Strawhats didn't set the 'two years' until Luffy's return to Marineford to hit the bell, which I think was a week or so after the battle? Between Little Easy Blue and Drakestone, probably another two weeks. So...two months, give or take a week maybe, into the two year time skip. Which doesn't seem like long, but I'll be engaging in some minor timeskips here and there, so it won't always take multiple arc to cover that much time.

It made sense...but it also made me consider if Kaya will even age. Between the spiritual energy and the Sick Sick fruit's ability to modify people, she might very well be capable of extreme life extension... Well, then it's a good thing I think dragon/reptile furries call themselves scalies :-p. At least, I've heard that term before, though I don't know enough to actually be sure it's a thing... Glad you're continuing to enjoy the stories :-).

Enjoyed the chapters, though I do feel Thraaxx, got let of lightly considering he murdered/sacrificed innocent people.

Loved these chapters! Neethrax is a really interesting character, and although way too strong to join the crew, I have a feeling she’ll make a great ally in the final war against the World Government 😌. Really enjoyed getting some extra time with Nojiko and Kaya. Love how Kaya is making her opponents stronger by torturing them lol! Also love that Nojiko is getting a power up that will help close the gap between her and Zoro and Kaya. Would love to have Sanji improve soon as well! He’s not quite where he should be in the crew power rankings yet (which is normal considering his late start, but he doesn’t really seem to be closing the gap). Considering you previously planned to roughly equate him to Nojiko, did you change your mind, or am I just being impatient haha Thanks for the update! I enjoyed this island you created and am looking forward to wherever they’ll be going next 😁 Btw, how far into the timeskip are they approximately?

In a lot of fiction, there will be a group of elder adventures that were part of the same awesome party, but at some point split up to follow their interests. Then the modern day adventures will go around and meet these terrifyingly strong elders at different points of their adventure. I LOVE thinking about what the young adventuring party would do at their reunion meeting, as if the adventure I’m currently reading had a flash forward omake, but in my mind. All I know, is that Kaya will be a really sweet old granny to the next generations, and then someone like Sanji will re-meet Kaya and everyone will be confused why the best chef in the world is absolutely terrified of the nice old healer lady who hands out lollipops. Am I making any sense? I’m not a furry…but dragon chick is really fuckin hot. Love this chapter. Love this story. Love your works.

Chapter 95: A/N 1: I took this as a chance to get inside the heads of a couple of the less focused-on crew members. Which is, as I've stated before, part of the reason I'm covering the 'timeskip' period. So that said characters can get more 'screen time' and development.
