Chapter 99 The Carvings' Secrets

It made sense now why only Goku had mastered Instant Transmission in the original story. It wasn't that Goku was unwilling to teach it; the technique was simply beyond verbal explanation, making it impossible for Goku to instruct others.
As for why Cell and Majin Buu could learn it, Xavier had his own theories. Their exceptional understanding and unique circumstances played a key role. Cell survived a near-death experience, witnessing the essence of Instant Transmission during his self-destruction, which allowed him to master it when he became Perfect Cell. Majin Buu, on the other hand, possessed an almost childlike brilliance. Although Xavier couldn't be sure if Buu's wisdom was truly profound, his innate talent was undeniable.
"Such beautiful carvings. Xavier, can we learn Instant Transmission here?" Celine asked, her eyes wide with amazement as she curiously looked around.
In the spacious underground palace, a tall, sacred green statue stood silently in the center, its presence serene and imposing.
Xavier nodded and said, "Pay attention to the patterns and symbols on these walls. The Yardratian techniques are hidden within them. Focus on the carvings, and the names of the techniques will appear in your mind."
Recalling the Yardratian's earlier warning, Xavier felt it necessary to remind everyone once more, "The Yardratian techniques can cause significant mental strain. Choose one technique to train in and be cautious. Only consider learning a second technique if you can handle the first."
He wasn't worried about Bardock; with his mature mindset and vast experience, Bardock knew how to prioritize. Xavier's main concern was that Celine and Merus might overextend themselves, leading to irreversible damage.
"Got it!" Celine responded quickly, knowing Xavier was talking about them. She ran off eagerly.
"Then I'll choose one too, something practical," Merus said, cheerfully beginning to explore the palace walls.
Watching the two of them move around excitedly, Xavier smiled wryly and then nodded to Bardock before starting his own search among the carved murals.
Bardock's goal was clear: the "True Spirit Art" mentioned by the Yardratian. This technique could not only dispel the Kanassan curse but also enhance his foresight, making it extremely beneficial.
For Bardock, the priority was to eliminate the curse's side effects. Of course, if he could retain the prophetic ability to aid the Saiyan race, that would be even better.
Circling the underground palace, Xavier felt the mental impact from various techniques, looking specifically for Instant Transmission.
The Yardratian techniques ranged from simple spells for daily use to powerful combat techniques, totaling over three hundred. Most were supportive in nature, including the Instant Transmission Xavier sought.
As he scanned the intricate carvings, Xavier marveled at the wisdom of the Yardratian ancestors. Soon, he encountered Celine and Merus again; they were also searching for the Instant Transmission technique.
"Xavier, come over quickly, I found the Instant Transmission technique!"
A shout of excitement came from nearby, and Xavier noticed Celine pointing at a complex pattern on the stone wall, calling out loudly.
"Did you find it?"
"Yeah, but the pattern for Instant Transmission is so complicated. I felt dizzy just looking at it for a while," Celine said, frowning slightly, looking troubled.
Xavier chuckled, raising his head to look at the patterns on the wall. Suddenly, it felt as though countless strange ripples were floating across his retina. Upon closer inspection, a strong shockwave surged through, causing a sharp pain that affected his nerves, making his brain feel suddenly deprived of nutrients and utterly fatigued.
"Incredible!" Xavier thought to himself. Comparing the mental attack from this Instant Transmission technique to other secret arts, he realized it was far more potent. It wasn’t physical fatigue but a powerful mental impact.
Closing his eyes, Xavier stood silently for a moment. When he reopened them, he mused, "This is indeed the Instant Transmission technique, but it's vastly different from spatial ability-based teleportation!"
If spatial ability-based teleportation involved forcibly opening a spatial tunnel with one's energy, then Planet Yardrat's Instant Transmission cleverly utilized the mystical interaction between ki, bending space to achieve instantaneous movement.
It was like the descriptions of faster-than-light travel in the science fiction novels Xavier had read in his previous life.
Using a high-thrust engine for acceleration would require an endless amount of energy. However, switching to warp travel significantly reduced the energy needed because, at that point, the force driving the spaceship forward wasn't engine power but the space itself moving autonomously, not the spaceship.
This leveraging of external forces seemed applicable to Instant Transmission as well.
Of course, since Planet Yardrat's Instant Transmission technique twisted space using ki, it was naturally susceptible to external energy interference. During high-intensity battles, with energy overflowing, the success rate of performing the technique would greatly diminish.
However, this drawback was unavoidable for both abilities and secret arts. When Xavier faced Lord Beerus, his internal energy had also seemed stagnant, making it impossible to activate his abilities to escape.
"No wonder the Planet Yardrat people reminded us to choose only one secret art. The mental impact during the training is indeed tremendous," Xavier thought with a hint of surprise.
Planet Yardrat's Instant Transmission and energy-based teleportation were fundamentally different. The former used ki to twist space, using the space itself as propulsion, while the latter forcibly opened a spatial wormhole with energy, crossing star regions.
By taking the strengths of both and combining them with his abilities, Xavier could further refine his Instant Transmission. Eventually, it might even compare to Kibito's Instant Transmission.
This was exactly what Xavier needed.
In fact, from the moment he sensed the mental impact of this Instant Transmission technique, Xavier knew it would be incredibly challenging to master. Insisting on learning it would probably take a very long time.
"Celine, are you really planning to learn Instant Transmission?"
Xavier asked the young girl in front of him once more to confirm.
The secret arts of Planet Yardrat had very high learning requirements. Most people could only learn one in their lifetime, and if they chose but failed to master it, it would be a significant waste.
"Of course!"
Celine didn’t even turn her head, her tone resolute. Her bright, star-like eyes were fixed on the wall as she sat down and began to immerse herself in studying.
Xavier chuckled, shaking his head, then glanced at Merus. The little one seemed hesitant, wanting to learn but unable to make up his mind. Xavier smiled and decided to ignore her. He sat cross-legged on the ground and started learning the Instant Transmission technique himself.
As he delved into it, he truly realized why Goku took a year to master it in the original story. The Instant Transmission technique involved so many intricate and complex details that even just sorting them out was no easy task!
But this was good; it made the challenge even greater! The more complex something was, the more valuable it seemed!
Xavier calmed his mind, slowly untangling the details bit by bit. By comparing it to his spatial abilities, he was able to complement and validate each part, gradually getting a foothold.
On the other side, seeing Xavier and Celine already absorbed in their studies, Merus pulled a face and started searching the underground palace again. After a while, not finding any suitable secret arts, she finally decided to stay by Xavier’s side and learn Instant Transmission too.
One day, two days...
Time passed slowly, and everyone was deeply immersed in their studies. Whenever they got hungry, they would take out a Senzu Bean to eat and then continue studying.
A single Senzu Bean could sustain them for ten days without food, but this wasn’t the primary use of Senzu Beans. If anyone knew Xavier was using Senzu Beans so wastefully, they would be gnashing their teeth at his extravagance.
