Discussion: S01 E09 Casper & Nova
🕑 Added 2024-01-24 18:38:22 +0000 UTCHmmm… I don’t know how one follows one of the pinnacles of the series so maybe it was expected that this episode seemed to under deliver. Even with great pacing as per usual, a lot of the developments felt a bit random or appealing to the fans. F&C get back and their world is still not magical and the scrabby bugs join them. The lich is praying to Golb but he instantly gets turned into a block and now is basically put to rest? (A plot used later?). So that sucked the wind out of where it seemed the direction was going but it did feel good to give him some emptiness to his goal. Then Simon gets interrupted and gets put inside of Shermy from the S10 finale as they search for another crown. This development is cool but it also feels like just trying to connect unrelated stories together. First episode that is probably under an 8 but I feel it’s because it’s more of a set up and coming after peak. 7/10

True but it would have to involve destroying golb or some over the top. But yes always season 2. But I think now I just want backstory since that’s stopping me from having him as a top villain

Well there’s always Fiona and cake season 2. As the lich puts it hes inevitable. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up returning once again

I thought this involvement was great but yeah he basically just got shafted to flex how powerful Golb is which is crazy deflating. He definitely would. And I think they humanized him but it seems like they like to play around with him. I agree he has masterful potential but with no backstory or true origin story, it leaves alot to be desired

Yea ngl I kinda hope he’d be involved in this season more I mean this is a multiversal plot. Wouldn’t the lich the guy who wants to destroy all life be the perfect final villain for a show like this? I’d love to know the backstory of the lich and the other very powerful beings as well! The lich has so much potential as a character in this show so it kinda hurt when they just did him dirty like that

Yeah…… feels like such a cop out. But this did fill out his end goal but how empty it still is. Also makes him look weaker compared to golb. So yeah they could have dropped the ball there. Maybe? I don’t think he’s depressed so much as he fulfilled his purpose and end goal but it’s still empty. He got what he wanted but it’s not enough. Idk I just think it wasn’t the strongest writing for such an intimidating villain. Still, I’m missing the background to really love him as a villain but this episode was sure doing things 😂

Also the thing that pissed like half the community was how they handled the lich. At first people hated it just because he was used up so quickly but then people actually found plot holes with it. According to the lore of the lich he’s omnipresent which basically means he can feel what the other liches feel in other universes so if this lich was depressed then it wouldn’t make sense for the lich in together again to still be pursuing the same goal.

Okay so that’s comforting. Feels like the only misstep in an otherwise fantastic season. But we shall see how the finale goes!

Don’t worry your not alone. Most people consider this the worst episode for some reason I enjoyed it more than 3 but that’s just me. But the finale should be good enough to satisfy you. And if it doesn’t well.. there’s always season 2

Yeah I agree with how the previous 8eps were building and building and this one didn’t really match or killed that

I just felt like the past 8 episodes kept building up the tension more and more and that episode 9 wasn't really a decent pay off to that but episode 10 is pretty good, but it is obvious they thought this show was only going to be one season.
