Worked it out! If you were on the old Patreon channel in the old server you have to disconnect in the 'connected apps' part of Patreon then reconnect!

Of course, we are gonna fix it somehow, you deserve access just as much as everyone. Let me contact Patreon, I wonder if it's to do with you having already connected to the previous server.

Well, I would like acces too. I checked the link in Patreon and it still goes to "You find yourself in a strange place. Either there are no text channels or you do not have access". As described earlier. And I have checked, both your servers are not public (searchable). So yeah, I too wonder how 200 found access. Did you post a link in YT? I could not find any (searched).

But how come there are 200 people just this week on the new Discord? Why is it working for them? I have connected the AI Insiders server to Patreon. Will ask Hector if this solved it for him.

But the link currently there doesn’t work (no rights, empty server, since good stuff is hidden. You can award rights. See the loom I sent you about making ‘roles’ in Discord (left column, right click)

Inside Patreon is “connected apps”. One of them is Discord. In this you need to place a link to a server. It is your choice what server you link, sadly, I am not a member of either yet (but eager to), so I cannot help you choose

Just before I ask my main admin, are we talking about the Insiders Discord, with around 200 active members or the old AI Explained one?

That is the help-page of Patreon dealing with the concept. The problem here is that the Discord link appears to be valid, but no channels were given access rights. It’s an empty server to the observer.

AI Insiders server only accessible via Patreon tier and AI Explained discord discontinued for different reasons, expanded on that in an @everyone message last night. In short, it deserved and demanded more of my time, and it was time I couldn't fairly give.

And I think it would be a good idea to post te Discord invite below every YT video, to expand quickly. Giving Patterson tiers extra access to private channels, resources, badges, etc. AI Explained and/or AI Insiders are not visible thru Discord search atm.

So a bit of context: I'm blind and use the Voiceover screen reader on my iPhone. The patreon app has a ton of unlabeled buttons, especially on the audio / video players. I've been able to figure it out, mostly by hitting every button until it does what I want and just remembering the position of that button for next time, but it's nowhere near as nice as Youtube's interface, for example. I can definitely work with this though!

Huge fan and loving the content. Been following A.I. since long before ChatGPT - Alan Thompson, Károly's Two Minute Papers and more. Sometimes I feel like the guy who cheered The Beatles in Hamburg only to see the world go nuts a few years later. And I love YouTube, but I think it's a good move to build a community here, and a higher paywall helps (hopefully) to optimize the odds that "enthusiast level" fans are in the discussion. Whether for pro or con, the elevated discussion is valuable to be sure.
