“Fuck…” Harry said as he got back to his feet.
This experience has been stressful for him to say the least and this was just the second task, if things keep going like this there’s going to be trouble for everyone, seeing Sirius like that is surely going to bring back the nightmares he had the day he died and the upcoming months, the thing turned into him because it knew that it would make him feel weak and doubtful and that almost cost him his life.
And the thing was right, Harry was on the verge of collapse, he was about to ask the thing that took the form of his dead godfather to forgive him for hurting him, it was so scary how easily the thing managed to get on his nerves, not even with his Auror training, he was able to keep himself as calm as possible, he doubted himself which is something he considers a failure.
“Potter, remember your training…Even if things become difficult at first the important thing is to keep going,” he told himself as he remembered his early days as an Auror.
However, he couldn’t continue looking at his archive of memories because he suddenly heard someone sobbing, and he quickly recognized that voice.
“Hermione!” Harry said before he ran as fast as he could to try to find his friend.
However, he didn’t have to run for too long on the beautiful terrain because she suddenly materialized and was back, she was on the ground and she was sobbing.
“Mione…” Harry said before he got on the floor and soon he touched her shoulder as he tried to comfort her from whatever thing she saw. “What did you see?” He asked knowing that she probably faced something similar to what he did.
“It’s over…I killed them…I killed my family…The thing turned into Ron, Rose, and Hugo…They asked me and begged me so I wouldn't kill them but in the end, I did it…I’m a monster…I’m—” Hermione couldn’t continue because she was soon embraced by Harry.
“It’s okay Mione…Those figures were not real…It was all fake, an illusion, you have nothing to be sorry about!” Harry tried to make her understand but she continued sobbing.
They remained like that for a while but slowly, she calmed down and soon, she started to wipe out the tears off her face before she closed her eyes.
“It’s not real…It’s not real…It’s not real…” She told herself and Harry agreed with her and said the same things so she could understand she wasn’t alone on this and that was the truth, Harry wasn’t going to leave her alone.
They kept going like that for a while and then, they smiled at each other after she calmed down, however, the peace didn’t last for too long as they suddenly heard a scream, and soon, an alerted and paranoid Charlie appeared in front of them, he was moving and pointing his wand at them.
“Charlie…It’s okay…It’s over, the task is over, you’ve succeeded!” Harry told the eldest Weasley.
“No…It can’t be…I’m sure you’re just like my mother…She conspired to make my life a living hell as I grew up!” Charlie was clearly affected by the vision he saw.
Harry didn’t grow up with his parents but hearing that Charlie saw Molly in a different light than what everyone was used to was something shocking, even though he’s always playful and he teases his family, Charlie really seemed affected by the vision of his mother he faced.
Harry and Hermione stared into each other’s eyes before they nodded understanding what to do, and the answer was simple, they decided to not do anything more than be wary and ready to grab their wands in case the older man decided to attack them in his paranoid state.
However, the paranoid and scared man little by little became more and more relaxed as time passed by, and soon, he couldn’t help but sigh before he fell on the grass to calm himself.
“I’m sorry guys but…I saw my mother, and she was telling me that I was a failure as a son and that’s why she was going to have more and more children, that truly brought back some memories I thought I had already erased…” Charlie said in a regretful tone.
It seems like didn’t want to sound like he resented his parents or his siblings but it was clearly a fear that he had in him, it was interesting, everyone thought that Ron was the only one who felt pressured to succeed in his family but realistically it made sense for each one of them to have their own struggles.
“It’s okay mate…The important thing is that you finished and succeeded at defeating that thing,” Harry couldn’t continue because soon another figure materialized.
It was Lucero, but contrary to them, she wasn’t angry, scared, or anything else, she was standing on her feet with a neutral expression before she sighed.
“Guys…I’m glad you managed to survive, I was going to give you some advice before we were completely restricted, in this test we had to face our dark counterparts that also know our biggest fears, it’s so easy to fall into its taunting, trust me, I’ve done this test a few times, so, I’m not scared for what I’ve seen but a lot of those adventurers I have to guide usually end up killing each other in this test, I’m glad we’re all okay…It wasn’t cool being killed by you though,” the Mexican witch said as she pointed at Harry.
The emerald-eyed wizard felt a little confused, there was no way he could kill her, well, only if she were a death eater or if she put someone else's life at risk, but he was surprised to know that her biggest fear was him killing her.
“Victoire sure is taking her time…Should we get worried?” Asked Hermione with a concerned tone.
“Well, if she was killed by her dark counterpart we would’ve known already, after all, the fights in this place are designed to be quick…It seems like people in the past predicted that humans in the future would have low attention spans,” Lucero couldn’t help but say with a smirk.
Neither Harry, Charlie, nor Hermione said anything, however, there was no point in them denying it, they were worried, after all, the youngest Weasley in the group was clearly a little inexpert, she had just graduated from Hogwarts this year, so, it was normal for the experienced ones to be worried about her.
“I can’t stay like this forever!” Harry complained and soon, he used a spell to increase the level of his voice. “Victoire…I don’t know where you are but please…Don’t give up, keep fighting, we’re waiting for you, and your father’s waiting for you too!” Harry tried to tell the blonde.
And as expected, there was no response and nothing happened, Lucero felt a little bad about the older attractive wizard but she knew better than to stop a man when he wanted to do something.
“I’m sorry Harry…But there’s no way you can make her hear what you—” Lucero couldn’t continue because suddenly something happened.
Covered in blood, Victoire appeared in front of them, and she was holding her stomach where there was lots of blood, it seemed like she suffered a cut there.
“Harry!” She said with a weak tone.
The emerald-eyed wizard suddenly ran as fast as he could to hold her before she fell on the floor, or she could have if Harry hadn't grabbed her, she couldn't help but smile due to his actions.
“You…You saved me…Your words, they reached out and lighted the path for me!” She said happily.
And to say that Lucero was shocked would be the understatement of the century, that didn’t make any sense, the trial was supposed to be individual, and there was no way to help other participants, something strange was going on right now.
