“Impressive…A Polyjuice potion capable of turning into a conscious animal and not a human with animal traits just like one girl did in her second year…She mistakenly took a cat’s hair instead of the girl she tried to mimic but she didn’t become a cat, she just got fur and other cat characteristics…Or at least that’s what the legend says,” a man with a magical eye said.
Harry, Nymphadora, Fleur, and Hermione had just told Alastor Moody about the story of the blonde. Narcissa was no stranger to the crazy Auror, after all, he had always tried to convict her husband, at one point he even tried to incriminate him with fake evidence, but right now her faith was hanging on the hope that the Auror would believe her story and that was going to be difficult considering the story between him and her family.
“And now you’re telling me that a potions master of this caliber and who happens to be a death eater wants to help us?” Asked the older wizard with a skeptical look.
“I know it sounds crazy but I think she’s sincere about this, she managed to get inside the house without any problem and she didn’t harm us, she could have but she didn’t, and also…She doesn’t have the mark,” Tonks showed her aunt’s arm to the older Auror who examined the arm with his magical eye.
He was able to detect some stuff that the normal human eye wasn’t able to see, he decided to get closer and he tried to uncover a spell or a charm that she could have used to cover the dark mark but nothing happened, she was clean.
Now, Alastor is the biggest death eater hater out there, he wouldn’t mind if all of them had a gruesome death but there was something he couldn’t deny, he never saw the woman in the Auror reports or the list of possible death eaters that they had in the Auror department, she seemed to have no association to them, so now it begged the question for him.
“She seems clean so…What does she have for us?” Asked the older Auror with a slightly raised brow.
“Locations and names…I got the locations where the souls of your friends are hidden, I have the names too and I can also tell you more about the others…The ones that aren’t important but are infiltered in many institutions like Hogwarts and the government,” Narcissa seemed to be honest.
“That sounds good…But, how do I know that you aren’t going to lie? How do we know that your sources are reliable? I mean, I don’t mean to offend you but I can’t see your husband telling you what he does with the dark lord,” the experienced Auror couldn’t help but chuckle.
“You’re right in that sense, Lucius never told me anything and much less my son…However I was forced to work for them in exchange for the safety of my family,” Narcissa confessed with a scared look.
“What did you do? What kind of work you did do for them?” The older Auror was interested.
“A lot of research…Magical investigations, potion and spell inventions, and human experiments…The dark lord was so obsessed with magical cores but no matter how many people he killed, he was never able to extract the magical cores of his victims, he wanted to add them to his own core, and he believed that by doing that he could not only acquire their powers but also their abilities,” the older woman said as she paused to reach for air.
This conversation was bringing back some horrible memories of the things she had to do, the experiments, the screams, the begging for mercy of the innocent people they experimented with, that’s a sound that still haunted her, and she supposedly did all that to help her family who ended up repaying her by doing worse things than she did.
“Mrs. Black…Is this place familiar to you?” Alastor suddenly placed some pictures.
Those were pictures of the abandoned chateau in the middle of nowhere that was recently burned with fiendfyre, there were pictures of the location, from the outside of the chateau, the inside, the lab that was hidden underground and the moment she saw the lab picture, Narcissa released a scream.
“Yes…I know that place…That’s where the horrible experiments took place!” She said scaredly and she tried to not look at the picture due to the shame she felt.
“Who did this? Who burned this place?” He wanted names, it was time to hunt scum.
“I have no idea but that’s the place the dark lord and his most important followers used as headquarters, they’re waiting for his return...I can only guess that Dolohov was the one who set the place on fire, after all, he’s fascinated with setting things on fire,” Narcissa said with a worried tone.
“So…You worked there but you had nothing to do with the fire? Don’t you think it’s so convenient, I mean, there’s no evidence of your work there, everything was destroyed, I’m sorry to say that this is so convenient for you,” the older wizard clearly had trust issues when it came to people associated to the dark lord.
“I know it looks like that but if you want to use veritaserum and see my memories or use legimency, you’ll see that everything’s the same…The place was intact when I left, I’m sure they weren’t going to set things on fire as there were many important investigations that the dark lord himself started on that lab, but right now, as far as I know, they’re more concerned in getting the Horcrux inside Harry,” the older woman pointed at the dark-haired wizard.
“Mrs. Black…Why did you leave? I know you weren't an official death eater but you were trying to save your family, right? What happened? What changed inside you that made you make that decision?” Harry wondered with a confused expression.
“Because I got tired Mr. Potter…I stopped caring about Lucius a long time ago and I don’t care about his life, but my son…He changed since he joined the forces, he used to be your mother’s pupil in his last year of Hogwarts…I was seeing some hope in him and even Lily sent me letters praising his ability with potions…” The older woman couldn’t help but pause a little.
Harry was well aware of that year, Malfoy had always been a git to him and his brother but in their last year, he suddenly changed, they didn’t become friends with him but he wasn’t paying them too much attention and even his friends stopped bothering Harry and his brother, it was weird to see how attentive he was to their mom but at least that last year the Potter twins felt like it was a good year.
“But everything changed during his graduation…He had a conversation with your mother and when he came back with us, he was angry, and unexpectedly, he suddenly told his father he wanted to join the death eater forces…There was nothing I could do, he was already an adult but I still tried to help him until a few weeks ago when I snapped at him and gave him the last chance to run with me and hide, but he refused and there’s a reason for it,” the older woman stopped for a few moments.
She was trying to collect her thoughts because she didn’t want to make Harry uncomfortable with what she was about to say.
“He’s in love with Lily…It seems like she appreciated him as her pupil but she loved her family and husband and she wasn't attracted to him, so, she politely rejected him, but even after so many years, he’s still obsessed with her, as far as I know, he has your mother’s soul and he’s hiding in the north of Europe where lands are filled with Dragons,” Narcissa confessed.
Harry didn’t know if he should feel happy because his mother rejected the blonde git or worried because he was in control of her soul and not only that, he was hiding in a place full of dragons, this wasn’t good.
