Harry was currently in a very complicated situation, he had no idea what to do, his instincts were telling him to run back home to see what was going on with his loved ones, but on the other hand, his logical side was telling him to calm down and stay where he was because the warning he got from Bellatrix Lestrange’s illusion could easily be nothing but a trap.
“No…I can’t go…Or maybe should I go?” Harry wondered as he analyzed the situation.
If Bellatrix and the death eaters wanted, they could have personally come after him and capture him without so many problems, yes they said they didn't want to fight him because he was willing to die if he faced them, however, they would still outnumber him and catch him alive, and yet, they hesitated and that’s not all, if she was telling the truth, it seems like they weren't only doing this just to get him alive, they were sending a message to the world.
“I just have twenty-four hours…I can’t be here all day I need to do something!” Harry couldn’t take it anymore.
He already had a time limit, so, if it turned out that his loved ones were fine which would make Bellatrix's words nothing but a false threat, however, he wanted to personally know if his loved ones were fine, he knew it would be better for him to forget about them and keep himself safe, that’s what his parents and close people would’ve done, they would’ve done anything in their hands to be away from the death eaters even at the cost of their loved ones lives.
But Harry wasn’t like them, he had never been like them, and right now he was showing once again why he was so different from them, he couldn’t take it anymore, he wanted to take things calmly but it was impossible, so, he decided to do what his heart was telling him to do.
“Fuck it, I’m going there!” He declared with a serious expression.
And soon, he started to imagine himself outside of his home, in his garden with his loved ones spending some time together, he couldn't help but remember one of the many happy and cheerful celebrations they had in the past, and after having that though, he suddenly disappeared and appeared in the garden where his mother's birthday party was held around a day ago.
He was expecting things to be fine, so, he opened his eyes slowly but soon, he realized the reality of the situation, and the reality was that things weren’t fine, and he knew it because there were a lot of Aurors on his property and there were no sight of his parents, friends nor his brother.
“What the…” Harry said still shocked about the situation until he found Fleur. “Fleur!” Harry screamed and soon he was surrounded by a lot of Aurors who didn't waste to point their wands at him.
“He’s here!” “Is he a death eater?” "Careful, he's coming to finish the job!"The Aurors who held him said.
“Wait, that’s not a death eater, that's Harry…That’s Henry’s brother!” Fleur suddenly said on the verge of tears.
“I know who he is…And yet, we need to make sure he's the one I think he is,” Moody suddenly said with a cold tone.
Seeing the familiar Auror, Harry decided to not fight and just relax, this was for his own good, he hated himself for disappearing from here, he should’ve been here fighting alongside them, of course, he would’ve been kidnapped and then, that would cause Voldemort to be resurrected but that was beside the point, right now he didn’t care if that bastard came back to life, the fact that those people harmed his family was something he wasn’t going to forgive easily.
“Moody…Where’s my family? What happened here?” Asked Harry in a serious tone.
“Wouldn’t you like to know? Come on, drink this,” Moody said as he made Harry drink the contents of a little crystal bottle.
Harry was a little surprised by that action but suddenly, he felt relaxed, he felt like he couldn’t give a fuck, he felt like he could speak his mind and say whatever thing he wanted and he wouldn’t suffer any consequences for that, he was that confident right now.
“What’s your name, birth date, and place, and the names of your parents, tell me if you have siblings, and if you do tell me their names and history…” Moody suddenly started asking important questions to see if the person in front of him was truly Harry Potter.
As for Harry, he told the older Auror everything he needed to know without falling and he even provided more things than they were expecting to hear but at the end of the day he was right, the man who was being held was Harry Potter, there was no doubt about it, so, Moody decided to take Harry with him to a more private place where he placed a charm to avoid anything from leaking out about the conversation that was about to happen.
Fleur had told Moody something very important, she told him about a message Harry gave to Nymphadora so she could tell everyone, but he still wanted to know first-hand everything.
“Are you a death eater?” Moody asked and Harry quickly denied those claims. “If what you’re saying is the truth then I want you to tell me why you weren’t here fighting alongside your brother, parents, and friends,” the older man demanded and Harry suddenly started to talk.
He told him the truth about the Horcrux inside him and how that thing takes control over his body when he uses a wand, he told him about the battle he had with the thing over the dominance of his body, the outcome, the dark mark, and how he escaped.
He told him about what happened in London between him and some bank robbers, and of course Moody was aware of that, the Aurors were actually on the hunt for Harry because of that and Harry explained the reason why he did that, and then, Harry told him about how he appeared in the middle of the mountains and how then he was approached by an illusion resembling Bellatrix Lestrange.
But the thing that shocked Moody the most was the revelation of what happened to all the people who fought here, Harry told him about that soul-sucking spell the death eaters developed, and even as someone who has been in the death eater hunting business for so many years, Moody was still shocked after hearing that.
“So that’s what they said they did to the members of the order…” Alastor said not believing what he had just heard.
“Yes…Moody, tell me one thing…Is that the truth? Have my loved ones lost their souls?” Asked Harry in a concerned tone.
“Yes…That’s what it looks like happened to them, it seems like they were attacked by a hoard of dementors but turns out it was something more horrible,” Alastor couldn’t believe it.
Harry couldn’t help but get on his feet.
“Well, I guess if that's the case then I should better get going,” Harry was ready for anything now that he was in this sincere state of mind after being fed veritaserum.
“Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” Asked the older man with an angry tone.
“I’m going to call Bellatrix, I'm going to do the exchange, don’t worry, I’ll do it far away to not attract her here,” Harry answered without thinking twice.
“Are you insane? Do you seriously want to know what they’re going to do with you?” Asked the older man with an angry tone.
“Yes, I’m very aware of what’s going to happen to me…They’re going to extract the Horcrux inside me and by consequence, I’m going to die,” he confessed with a very surprising calming tone. “But I don’t care anymore, I know that you’re probably thinking that it would be better to sacrifice my loved ones just to stop Voldemort from coming back to life,” Harry explained and the Auror couldn’t help but stare at the floor a little ashamed.
He hated to admit it, and it hurt him to think like that because most of the victims were very close friends of his, they were the only people he could consider their friends, after all, they had never judged him and they even respected his decisions in life even though it has cost him a few body parts.
Still, he knows that all of them would want Harry to not sacrifice himself just for them, stopping Voldemort from resurrecting is the top priority of the order of the phoenix, and Alastor was the one who made that mentality get buried into the mind of all the members, however, he was feeling conflicted right now.
“Alastor…I’m weak, I’m a failure as a magic user, and you know that they’re going to eventually catch me and they’re going to do it after destroying their souls,” Harry’s words completely shocked the experienced Auror.
Harry, was speaking the truth right now and the older man couldn’t find in him to lie to the Potter and tell him everything was going to be fine, after all, even if he and Fleur were strong, there was no way for them to protect Harry, this was a very difficult situation.
