“What’s going on here,” Harry asked himself as he stared at the two roads, all of them seemed to lead him to chaos, peace doesn’t seem like a very realistic dream right now.
“Those are your life options, only…If you take control of your life of course,” the woman behind him whispered and with a movement of her hand, she made another path appear.
However, in this path there was nothing, it was a wasteland, this road led to a place that looked like something or someone had destroyed everything, Harry couldn’t help but feel scared as he looked at this new path.
“That’s…” He tried to give some ideas about what this place was but he was quickly stopped by the woman with pale skin.
“That's what’s going to happen to the world if you don’t do anything…Just like it has been prophesied, you’ll bring the end of the world no matter what, the question here is…How would you like the end of the world to happen?” Asked the woman with a calm tone.
“Is this really happening or this is just a very bad dream? I should better wake up,” Harry said desperately.
When you realize you’re in a dream, you feel weird but somehow your mind knows that you should wake up, Harry usually realizes he is in a dream because he usually uses magic in his dreams, that’s something that can’t happen in real life, that's why he knows when he's dreaming, however, he was facing a problem now, he was having trouble waking up and he was starting to panic.
“This is not a dream Harry…My name is Merlin and I’m the creator of magic, I had to fight some gods so mankind could use magic but I managed to defeat them, I also stole the magic knowledge from them,” the woman said with a happy smile on her face.
“Merlin? But wasn’t Merlin an old man who lived less than a thousand years ago? Magic has been here longer than him,” Harry was confused right now, all the tales didn't make sense.
“Oh, he’s just one of the many people blessed by me to become the strongest magical person of their times, the legend of the creation of magic has disappeared and people have forgotten about me, except for those who raised the Merlin you knew, they clearly knew what they were doing,” she added and Harry was surprised by this revelation.
The fact that he was still in his dream just meant one thing, all of this was real, this wasn’t a simple dream and it took him a while to accept that but there was no point for him to deny it anymore.
“But…If you’re so important why are you here in my dream?” Asked the dark-haired wizard, this didn’t make sense, his brother should have been the one getting this dream and not him.
“Tell me one thing, Harry…Which one do you choose? A necromancer? The strongest wizard of your time? Or indifference? Tell me which one of them would you like to be the one to bring the end of the world?” Asked the goddess and Harry was a little confused.
“What do you—” He didn’t know what to do or say.
“Just answer the question,” she said in a cold tone that made Harry feel shivers even if he was sleeping.
“I don’t want any option,” he confessed and the goddess suddenly smirked.
“That’s a good answer…In theory,” she said in a calm tone. “In reality, you’ll have to pick one option, Harry, as I said before, from time to time I bless someone with the knowledge to become the strongest magical person of their time…Merlin, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, Godric Gryffindor, Nicolas Flammel…They were all blessed by me to become legends and they weren’t aware of that, that's what made them as amazing as they were,” she confessed and Harry’s eyes widened.
“But…Why are you here telling me this? What's the purpose of you coming here to tell me this?” Harry was confused, he never thought of him as special, all the opposite, he had always thought of him as nothing but a magical failure.
It has always been like that since he was a baby even if his parents never called him a failure, that's the idea he has about himself because every time his magic gets out of control something horrible happens, and that’s why he has decided to not use magic anymore, he has forbidden himself from making use of it, her visit didn’t make sense.
“Because you were blessed by me, Harry…You’re destined to defeat Voldemort alongside your brother, it’s true that your magic is unstable, and if you don’t try to control it, at some point in the future, magic is going to control you and if you don’t do anything, your magic is capable of bringing the end not only of the world but the universe too,” the woman said in a cold and scary tone.
Harry’s mind suddenly was filled with images of destruction, chaos, pain, misery, and the destruction of mankind and all the living things in the world and the universe.
“Your blessing has brought me nothing but pain,” Harry said in an angry tone. “And now you want me to be some kind of savior after so long?” Harry was losing his composure little by little.
“Yes, I was expecting you to realize that you need to take control of your life and your magic, not otherwise, but it seems like you have secluded yourself from trying,” she told him with a cold tone. “And that’s a bad thing because I’ve blessed you with an incredible power that’s waiting for you to control it,” the goddess was calmer now.
“Aren’t you hearing what I’m saying? Every time I use magic, it brings nothing but pain to everyone!” Harry was starting to get desperate, he wanted this dream to be over already.
“Yes, and that’s because your magic has been corrupted, it has been like that since you were a child, to be more precise it has been like that since you defeated Voldemort when you were just a child,” the goddess confessed and Harry had a confused expression.
“I think you’re confusing things, the one responsible for that is my older brother, not me,” Harry was starting to feel better, maybe she was wrong and the one she actually needed to see was his brother.
“No, it was definitely you…You were the one who defeated Voldemort, he attacked your parents but he didn’t kill them because he wanted them to suffer, knowing their children died because of their fault would have been a worse punishment than killing them, however, when he attacked you and your brother, something incredible happened…You managed to return the strike and the magic was so strong that you destroyed Voldemort, your brother ended up fainting and you were crying desperately, Voldemort was gone and now you had a scar on your forehead,” the goddess' words shocked Harry.
He knew about that story but the official conclusion was that his brother was the one who sacrificed himself to save Harry, they said that his brother used all his magic to defend him and as a consequence, he ended up fainting and Harry ended up crying desperately.
“That means I…” Harry couldn’t finish.
“Yes, you’re the boy who lived,” the goddess told him in a serious tone.
He collapsed on the floor of his dream, he was still shocked about this revelation, it didn’t make sense for him to be the boy who lived.
“That night, your soul and your magic became corrupted because of that action, it was self-defense and you weren’t aware of it but...You killed someone Harry, which was the perfect opportunity for something else to creep inside your body,” the goddess added and Harry was confused about where this was going.
“What do you mean?” Harry questioned the goddess and she smirked.
“You know your brother destroyed all Horcruxes right?” She asked and Harry nodded. “There’s one no one was aware of, and that is…You,” her words didn’t make sense for Harry. “You’re the last Horcrux Harry, you’re an accident but regardless of that, is your existence and the Horcrux inside you that corrupted your magic the one that’s going to bring Voldemort back,” the goddess finally said and he was having a hard time believing what he was hearing.
“So that means I…Have to die?” He questioned her with a sad expression, he knew he had to die someday but he wasn’t expecting it to be so soon.
“Well that’s the easy way out or…” The goddess said and Harry raised his brow. “Or you can try to extract it and kill it yourself, however…That’s a very complex magic and if you aren’t willing to try to acquire the skills to do it then, I guess you should take the coward’s way, but there’s something else you need to know…The death eaters already know about the Horcrux inside you…Do whatever you want with this information I gave you,” the goddess's tone was calm.
Still, even if she was speaking like that, it brought nothing but fear to Harry, this was too difficult for him to handle.
