I'm back! Artist Retreat Update! ๐ซ๐ท๐จ
🕑 Added 2023-06-23 14:12:05 +0000 UTCHi Patrons! ๐จ
Iโm back from the artist retreat in France! ๐ซ๐ท Iโve recorded a lot of footage from the retreat so I will be making a video about it soon!
However, I want to share some of the things now! This is going to be quite a long post so I apologize in advance haha! I had the pleasure of staying at La Muse with my friend, Kate (poopikat) ๐ฅฐ
I had such an amazing time at the retreat! I felt like I was living in a fairytale. โฐ๏ธ๐งบ
Being surrounded by nature and other creatives for the past week had me feeling so inspired! ๐จ
I wanted to share some of the photos with you all and some of the artworks Iโve done!
Hereโs what the view looked like where we stayed! There were a lot of cats who would come to visit! It reminded me of the movie, The Cat Returns! ๐๐๐
The retreat was located in a beautiful small town, so it was very serene! ๐ผ Every Thursday, there would be a butcher that would come to town so we were able to grab some food!
What I loved about the retreat are the dinners and lunches! Everyone was cooking and preparing food for each other so it was always a feast! Kate and I made brunch and made sure to bring out maple syrup haha ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฅน
I tried plein-air watercolour for the first time and oh boy, it was challenging but it was so much fun! I need to use the medium more so I can get used to it! One of the residents from the retreat is a musician and she also draws in her spare time so she was drawing portraits of everyone in the retreat!
It was really inspiring to hear everyoneโs stories! ๐ฅน๐ฅน๐
I had an amazing time working and painting here with Kate! Sheโs inspired me and weโve both been teaching other different art methods, talking about art, etc.๐ฅน๐
Hereโs some of the artwork I made:
The first two images are drawn on the spot of the location! Iโm more comfortable drawing nature scenes than indoors haha but I learned a lot from painting indoor scenes so I definitely want to do it again! The third image is a quick painting of the cats that would visit the retreat! I might revisit it in the future! ๐
That's all for now! Stay tuned for the video where I'll be sharing my thoughts about plein-air, inspiration, and taking breaks!
Thank you all so much for supporting me here and for allowing me to live my dream as an artist! ๐ฅน๐ฅน Iโll be posting more work soon!
Thank you Patrons!
Love always,
Maxine

Oh my goodness, it looks so magical there! I'm glad you had a wonderful time. The middle image of your artwork, the one of the forest, looks amazing. So serene <3
