Dirty Thirty / Busted Computer Update
🕑 Added 2023-11-12 18:02:05 +0000 UTCA "Dirty Thirty" is my name for streaming my animation work 30 days in a row with an 8-hour daily average. Starting on October 11th, I streamed every day, for 30 days, with a final daily average of over 10 hours.
A couple days before I hit day 30, my computer had a very bad crash, and continued to BSOD several times a day. I still managed to finish my "Dirty Thirty"--albeit with many BSOD's/restarts in the streams--and have spent the past several days troubleshooting and getting up in the guts of my work PC. After a full reformat, a re-reformat, and several diagnostic programs, I used MDSched to find that one of my RAM sticks went bad. After removing the RAM, all of the crashes have ceased.
I'm still running some diagnostics, and a little worn out from animating on Twitch for 30 days in a row, so I'll be taking a couple days off.
It's been a wild month.

I've had RAM go bad on me while doing important work, scary stuff. Speaking from experience, be careful using your system while it is prone to frequent BSODs. If the system crashes during an important write operation to the filesystem, this can potentially lead to data loss or render the system unbootable. Glad you were able to troubleshoot and get rid of the culprit sooner rather than later. Enjoy the well-deserved break.
