I'm uploading here because I'm in the middle of a rewriting the main website. The main features of new site are:
- Design for access control. Instead of secret links, there will be user accounts tied to patreon (or subscribestar) via oauth. The magic links are confusing and were only ever intended to be a temporary solution.
- Improved scheduling. Over the years I've added more and more automatic features to the site, posting images, sending emails, twitter posts, posts to third party sites. They're all implemented differently and it's an ad-hoc disaster. New site is built around the scheduler.
- Improved page generation time. When a scheduled event happens currently, some things like the comic index take so long to generate that the page times out and only a few of the items appear. It's just old and cluttered from many edits and additions over the years. The new version is clean and fast.
It's mainly a technical update. Other than logging in to see patron content, the user experience will be the same. Content is a little light right now because of this, but in the long run it will be worth it.
