Chapter 4: Dev Log #1

So, last week's poll resulted in a clear winner.
Bi-weekly Dev logs, which I think is a nice middle ground.
Today, the new schedule starts.
In the last bibi log, I spoke a little about the tabletop session.
And oh boy is that thing evolving.
When I first wrote it a few years ago, it was very simple and just "fun."
Chapter 4 is going to elevate the game to a new level of cinematography. The tabletop session is the perfect opportunity to do some "Trial and Error".
I've got a lot on my plate, be it Zbrush, Blender, Photoshop, Writing, Improving my English, RL self-improvement, etc. but a big point is coming up more and more.
Cinematography.
While I do try to make some more or less cinematic renders, I also want my animations/cinematics to be like that.
Blender, of course, is the optimal choice to do that. And so I think it's a good thing to work on those skills in Daz. (If I can get it to work in Daz, I can definitely do it in Blender.)
Daz3D sucks hard in terms of animations. Even harder in terms of cinematic capabilities. You can't even animate a damn surface material. (Example: An emission.)
I'll try my best to deliver.
On the other side, I'm really enjoying the development of it.
It's so different and exciting.
As mentioned, this first session is a "Cyberspace Nightmare."
It's very moody and can feel threatening at times.
Oh right, I also finished the first cinematic of 1:30min.
The music for the entire tabletop session has also been found already.
It'll be more expensive than the other releases but damn, did I find a lot of good and fitting music!

as a massive GANTZ anime and graphic novel fan/collector im intruiged by the shots from the 'Nightmare' episode.. im guessing this is the rpg game mentioned and not an actual alien invasion of the planet giving way to the awesome story building so far lol

Hey TiefImWesten, I personally don't see animations as something special. To me, they're just like still renders. And in order to get good at something, you've gotta repeat a shit ton of times. That's why if you keep animations only for special occasions, they'll most likely not look good at all. Well, how could they, you had no training. I can recommend this article about it: https://jamesclear.com/repetitions So yeah, the more animations I do, the better I get at it. Especially with the move to Blender. A more or less serious animation software, I will need the training in order to produce the highest quality possible. And don't worry, you're always free to speak your mind! :)

Hi Ocean, many thanks for the update. I am looking forward to the next version! Regarding more animations: I like them, especially when they form a complete movie ;-) But, there is an other developer who over did it with animations, in the game Big City's Pleasure, from my point of view. I think animations should be reserved for special moments within the story. If there are too many, then animations loose their possibility to bring something special to the player. Something that cannot be transported within text or a still image. Please don't get me wrong. I love the game so far and I am happy to support it further. This are just some thoughts to 'meditate' about. Best regards, F.
