Sounds great. I would like for you to look up two fantasy wizards to see how they expanded on magic and creation of magic. Elminster the mage and a wizard named Milamber by Ed Greenwood. They are both “regular” wizards and then expand magic by thinking differently how to create it. They both in fantasy books are your most powerful wizards, both capable of destroying worlds, Milamber does in fact. But neither are bad guys just act in what’s best for them and their friends/family.
