Yeah, the whole “lying to her” thing seems a bit contrived. She seems like a clever girl and its pretty obvious that Jon has barely any idea of how to bend given that he failed to dry his clothes in front of her. He offered to teach her but made no guarantee and now the spirits are acting like wylla is gonna be suicidally depressed when it turns out she can’t bend.

I don't see where Jon lied to her. I'm pretty sure he said he'd try to teach her, but he wasn't sure if he could or if she could do it. That isn't a lie as long as he actually attempts to instruct her.

Nice chapter. Guess old Bloodraven has no idea that the Prince-Who-Was-Promised has now become Planetos’ first Avatar. This and the walkers’ early appearance is seriously screwing with that prophecy. Also we get to see Jon get into trouble for lying, like Aang did with Sokka and Katara. However, maybe this could be remedied with an accident involving energy-bending? Looking forward to the next chapter.
