I'm so happy to see Harmony and Spike back, but as much as I love this ep, the way everyone mysteriously disappears from campus during the Spike/Buffy fight is mega cringe. Parker actor is terrible, it's depressing that someone as heroic as Buffy would fall for his Bogdan eyebrows and pseudo charm lol -.-

you can think about it this way - all through season 2 we see him being jealous of Angel and the attention Dru gives him once he loses his soul, and now we see him again - after it was establishing in season 3 that he was going to win Dru over after she dumped him - so here we learn that he managed to get her back only to have her dump him again - the events of season 2 were so significant for them that it managed to broke off a century of relationship - he is going after one of the only things we know of that in the past has made him feel masculine, probably regardless of Dru (since she isn't mentioned in that relation) - which is killing off a slayer - so it's no wonder he's suddenly extremely overconfident in his ability and marvels at the chance to really stick it to Buffy (hence the "banter") He's in his element - he has killed two slayers before, "might as well enjoy it"

Without spoiling anything, it just comes down to his character. He has one hell of an ego and that causes him to not always think things through, or when he DOES, he screws it up. Even back in his introduction, he had what was probably a solid plan in waiting until vampires got a power boost but said fuck it and just attacked at the school early, and he lost. It's kind of his thing lol

Well, it's basically traditional at this point, isn't it - Buffy and Spike continually completely failing to kill each other over and over again, hitting each other over the head then engaging in banter rather than staking/ripping throat out. It started in School Hard and hasn't stopped yet.

yeahhh i was rewatching and i was like "why tf wouldnt he take the ring and dash?" maybe he just likes gloating and wanted to fuck with buffy but kinda dumb decision haha. wish they did that a little better ngl bc it does seem v obvious now that its just set up to bring it to Angel so we can connect the shows and he can also have something to help him get around LA without worrying about the sun or random stakes he could fall onto ;) lmaooo

Can I just point out how royally dumb Spike is in this episode. So there he is all invincible and shit with the Slayer on the ground and decides to engage in banter, get's staked, heals and then SHOWS THE SLAYER THE RING!?! Then when he has the upper hand makes a point to PISS HER OFF by mentioning Angel!! Anyway Great reaction as usual Alley <3
