Regarding your first point: I think it's spoilery because his sincerity is demo in future episodes and she would have realized it then.

The story is that Joss didn't see it until fans pointed it out to him, at which point he went, "Whoa... you guys are kinda right, it's totally there." I think that Alley brought up the interesting point that at their age, there's a lot of confusion between "I want to be with this person" and "I want to be this person." In Buffy's case (remember most of "Bad Girls"), it's falling on the latter end of the spectrum, though dancing with Faith certainly seems to have made her unusually, um, affectionate with Angel... she kind of sublimates any "with" desire in the "be" desire. Faith seems the opposite, being more prone to interpret things sexually (though not outright), she is possessive of Buffy and prone to do things like randomly kiss her, while she's much more uncomfortable admitting that she wants to be what Buffy is, even though the jealousy is blatantly obvious to everyone else. So she sublimates "be" in favor of "with," and because she's got such low regard for people she's "with," that means she can just treat that like a game. Or at least that's how I see it. But I have wondered what would have happened with the rest of the night in "Bad Girls" if they hadn't run into Alan.

And just for kicks - I think Seth Green was filming "Austin Powers" during that season and his character there "Scott Evil" has black hair, which explains the back and forth with colos, though I adore Willow's explanation: "Yeah, his hair does that" ... So cute!

Also - 1.Never-mind - edited comment 2. In episode 7 (Revelations) when they all find out that Buffy was hiding Angel they have an "Intervention" scene and Xender and Buffy really have it out. At a certain point Buffy tries to defend herself, saying she didn't tell them because she wanted to wait... presumably she was going to say "till I know more" but he cuts her saying something like "what, wait till the next time he goes psycho and kills us all?!" 3. Giles says at the end to the hooded demon "thanks for bringing this to my attention" - so the demon owed Giles and figured this was an easy way to get the score even - and went to him after the Mayer summoned him. This is why this show just gets better and better with every watch, every sentence is painstakingly crafted and as you often say - "... this was A LOT..." you catch more and more every time you watch an episode, which probably explains one of the reasons it stayed so fresh for people even after all this time.
