“So, a love potion, eh?... Young girls like you always come for the same thing. A spell, a drop, a sigh stolen from another heart. And of course, you all think it’s just a matter of saying ‘please’ and that’s it. I can make it easily, of course. I’d just need a lock of your hair.
But buuuut, not so fast, little miss. I have the nasty habit of charging for my services. Preferably in gold… and you’ve come to me empty-handed.
And no, don’t look at me with that face. I’ve heard all the cheap offers: ‘goodwill,’ ‘a smile,’ ‘I’ll do anything.’ Bah. If you could do something truly useful for me, you’d have made the potion yourself, wouldn’t you? But wait… yes, wait a moment…
—she approaches, tilting her head as she examines the girl more closely—
You might actually have something I’m interested in. A rare ingredient, powerful, and incredibly elusive. It’s extracted directly from another person… though volunteers are usually scarce. No. Don’t worry, nothing macabre, just Tickling Essence. Yes, I know, it sounds ridiculous, but it’s a valuable, unstable, magical substance. Cheerful on the surface, but very useful for enchantments that affect the soul. Love, desire, emotional confusion... all the things you're after, right? And you, darling… you look like an excellent donor.
So here’s the deal: you step inside a special box I’ve prepared to keep you still during the collection process, while I apply a bit of... specialized stimulation, and we gather your laughter drop by drop. Three vials in exchange for your potion. A fair trade, no tricks.
No one ever said love was cheap. And I assure you, in the absence of gold, there are worse ways to pay a witch than with giggles. So, my sweet little volunteer… relax, place your feet here… that’s it, hands go here, —the witch locks the box latches— and once I’ve tied all these mischievous little toes, we can begin… I suppose it won’t take more than three or four hours...”
